View Full Version : Strut top plates
How should these be fitted? And how were they fitted by Vauxhall when fitted as standard?
Stitched around the inside and outside (between the raised bits)? Or welded all the way around?
Thanks.

If your talking about strut top plates that go over the top of the turret,
only stich the lower bits that make contact with the turret.

Spot? how did u do that ?
or did u puddle weld them on ?
Yes the turret plates. Didn't realise they only touch at the bottom, just weld along the lower bits then.
Thanks.

drilled holes in every part of the top that sit the higghest if that makes sence, then puddle welded them on as you call it lol ground the excess of an looked pucka imo :thumb:
If you puddle weld them on, they'll be a complete waste of time as they'll do fcuk all. Saying that they do fcuk all anyway.
They are the most pointless "strengthening" plate evarrr

i got 2 sets of strut top plates in the garage, both times i got them free with rally plate kits, both times i lined em up and thought hmm they are gonna do nowt except make my strut brace closer to the bonnet lol..
The do nothing for the car unless your going to be freaquently leaving the ground, then it just helps bend the whole inner wing rather than punching through lol
