i now this has mostprobably been asked alot,but whats a good welder to get,plus how hard is it to weld just thought i would ask you guys first instead of just rushing out and buying one:thumb:

i have a Clarke 110E, awsome machines..

same with anything really practice makes perfect :)

I've a clarke pro 90 myself which is fine but if you think you'll ever need to weld something thicker than a body panel, like an engine mount ( the 90 will manage it but you have to muck around with V prepping and running more than one bead), I'd reccommend going up a few notches to a 150/151 or 160.

maybe... my Clarke 110E welded 6mm plate very happy and it wasnt on full power...

yeah it will be for body panels aswell,my mate said about the 150 one,ive seen ones which dont run gas are these any good or the gas ones better,just getting some ideas,so has anyone got any tips on welding i know i have to get a mask and gloves whats the best mask to get aswell,sorry to bug everyone just want to get all the right bits and start practicing,thanks for you info so far guys

stay away from gassless! they spatter and are a pain in the ass!

Go For Gas As Past Exsperience Gasless Turn Where Ever Ur Welding Into A Right Mess Weld Splatters and That

dude, unless your gonna be welding ALOT buying a welder is not cheap your looing at £300 all in...

i was thinking around that mark,ive seen some for around 200 on fleebay clarke ones,when i get 5 mins spare i will put the links up:thumb:

the best thing you can do is check your other thread, once you choose wether u want to pay for a rally plating kit or not..

as i said i have a Clarke 110e and its more than man enough for the job.

as for learning to weld, lots of practice and i found reading thru this site very helpful http://www.mig-welding.co.uk/
