Thought id start up a project thread as its going to be a long running one :D

Bought her like this on 23rd of june for £80 cash, has no keys currently but hoepfully itll be running soon, its a 1.4 5dr corsa vegas, cracking little car, and will do me ideal for getting to work and back in rather than abusing the nova :D

As i bought her:

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/DSC02002.jpg

Today i fitted my dvd player, astra gsi steering wheel, my nova sri steel wheels, a smalle xhaust tip and de-badged the boot, currently looks liek this:

Dave, you are a lucky sumbitch, trust you to get another bargain

lol i know, tbh its a pretty solid little car, doesnt run though so ive either got to change the module, ecu and key off another 1.4 8v corsa, or just get a key cut for around £40, but seen as how Mally gives me free bits, would be silly not to try the pikey method lol

Adam
24-06-09, 12:19 AM
You will need to replace ecu/ignition pickup/key chip,as they are a matched set.....
And you dont have the chip for the ignition key.....

Dave.
24-06-09, 12:41 AM
so ill need the chipped key, the ecu, and the transponder unit from another corsa 1.4 8v? or just any corsa?

saloonwoody

needs to be from another 1.4 8v of around the same year :)

Fitted a Punto rear wiper:
http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/DSC02024.jpg

Stonechipped some of the surface rust in the engine bay, only a temp tos top it getting worse:

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/DSC02025.jpg

Romoved my DVD player and fitted a standard Vauxhall CD player, much better i think:

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/DSC02026.jpg

Also fitted my Vauxhall performance car club sticker i found in a Calibra at my local scrappy, lucky or what lol:

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/DSC02028.jpg

Also, the ariel wire had been cut or ripped where it meets the stereo for some reason, so i got my spare nova one, extended it out under the rear seats, then ran the wire under the carpet to the headunit, works fine and picks up frequency's with ease:

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/DSC02029.jpg

Thats all for now untill tomorrow :D

27-06-09, 06:43 PM
u dont need to replace those arch trims - give them a couple of going overs with the heat gun and they will look brand new. good find for80 quid btw...

Dave.
27-06-09, 09:22 PM
Allready got a new arch trim today dude, jut got to fit it now :thumb:

The backbox on it is in a pretty abd way, so picke dup a Peco BB2 off my mate for £10, not the ebst exhaust but its cheaper then a new replacement :thumb:

Also picke dup a badgeless grille, which ill use if i ever get a post-facelift bumper :thumb:

ianglanister
27-06-09, 09:25 PM
on the plastics get a hot air gun on them not for too long so they melt but it will bring back the orig colour or near enough then will be asy to maintain as once the gel comes off they will be back the same. just a little valeting trip. good luck mate. Ian

Dave.
27-06-09, 10:04 PM
Might do that Ian, cheers dude :thumb:

for now im going to fit the arch trim, as that one's flat now due to me t-cutting it lol

Dave.
28-06-09, 10:54 PM
Only had half an hour to work on it today, so did what i could

Fitted the original splitter off one from a scrappy as mine had been misplaced as somepoint before i bought it:

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/DSC02034.jpg

Fitted my enw wipers whislt i could, no play in these either, been told they usually make their own way up windscreens?

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/DSC02035.jpg

And got rid of those HORRIBLE L.E.D washerjets and replaced them with some standard items:

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/DSC02036.jpg

Much better :D, thats all till tomorrow folks :thumb:

Dave.
29-06-09, 11:54 PM

Dave.
30-06-09, 08:35 PM
I've got some 40mm springs if you want them Dave

think im gonna' leave it standard height dude, as its a works car so want it to be practical, eg: taking speedbumps at more than 10 mph lol

John
30-06-09, 08:37 PM
Steels look well, (should have said, i'd have done you a deal against these speedlines!)

Dave.
04-07-09, 01:22 AM
Well she finally RUNS! lol, runs spot on no nasty nocks or rattles etc, so looks like the gamble paid off :D. Only thing thats wrong with it is the starter motor is sticking every time it starts, and its a game of "flick the key on and off" to get it to become un-stuck. Hopefully got a second hand replacement coming next Wednesday :thumb:

And in true Dave fasion, i had to get some pictures of the work done today :D

Painted my Callipers on Wednesday with some silver Hammerite we had spare:

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/DSC02050.jpg

The backbox was absoloutley rotten so removed that, which took around 2 hours using a flatblade screwdriver and a hammer lol, so put on the only one i had for a corsa, Peco BB2, doesnt add a stupid amount of noise and was free, plus meant for a corsa too :D :

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/DSC02051.jpg

And then just took her out for some general summer pics:

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/DSC02052.jpg

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/DSC02053.jpg

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/DSC02054.jpg

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/DSC02055.jpg

Also, the car has 20 litres (Half a tank) of fuel in, so i effectivley only paid £58 for the car :D, Also the key was cut as a freebie for some work we did in the oast for him, so alltogether, the car bought, running and all current modifications done, £58 :D

thats all for now :thumb:

Dave.
06-07-09, 12:30 AM

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/DSC02056.jpg

NOW TODAYS PROGRESS!!!

Well today got a call from the local scrappy, "Got a corsa comign in now on the truck, want me to stop by yours see if theirs anythign you want off it?"
Though to myself, may aswell, you never know lol

So anyway he came down with it, blown headgasket but had an immaculate black interior in it, dash carpet seats cards the lot! so i thought about it for abit, then i thought "MEHHH... what the hell lol"

So spent from 9am this morning untill around 8pm stripping the interior out of the scrap one, then stripped my interior out, and then put my old grey interior back into the silver one so it was a full car, and seen as i replaced everything i got a black interior for FREE! :D

Anyway, heres some pictures of it in the scrapper:

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/DSC02059.jpg

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/DSC02060.jpg

Didnt get any pics of it getting stripped as we were running on a tight scedual, but heres mine all stripped out:

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/DSC02061.jpg

And how i left it tonight as i was nearly passing out with exhaustion lol
http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/DSC02062.jpg

All thats left to fit now is the two front seats, dash, and afew plastic bits, then its all done, couldnt of done it without Dave and Woolfy at work though, an ex vauxhall mechanic and an ex service and repair mechanic, what could be better lol, BIG BIG thanks to them :thumb:

Dave.
10-08-09, 01:33 AM
Im tempted Vaughan, but it needs to be practical, eg taking speedbumps fast lol

Speaking of practicallity.....ive doe away with it lol, ive fitted a silver sony xplod sub & amp in the boot, which will hopefully be wired upto my dvd player next week when it comes back from repair, then im uprating all the speakers in the doors etc, gotta' have tuneage lol

Also nicked a set of mk4 astra side repeters off one at the scrappy, so will whack them on tomorrow :thumb:

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/DSC02147.jpg

Also fitted my mk4 astra side rep's, Has to cut a slice into one of them to make the bumb slot bend slightly, as corsa holes are slightly more angles than these:
http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/DSC02157.jpg

Also, fitted this as i got it from a scrapper, its actually a bloody good boot light lol, as mine doesnt have one, so its staying currently:

Just doing it to this instead, the novas my pride and joy and all my mates have started to get cars now, so i thought id get a runabout and try and make something that would get me abit of streetcred lol, tbh the tip is exacty the same size as the novas one lol :p

Thats one of the things thats staying standard, the ride height
One of the main reasons i wanted another car was because the nova wasnt practical, alloys, lowered, i couldnt drive it anywhere as round here is sleeping policemen county lol, so i want to take speedbumps at a decent speed :d

G-nova
23-08-09, 03:15 AM
it would look loads better lowered even if its just 30mm all round or get some bigger wheels. why are you not allowed alloys?

Because the dads payng for the insurace for the first year, so it has to be virtually standard lol :p

Would this make it louder? Also its got a wire going to the airbox, not sure what to do with that wire?

Adam
23-08-09, 08:30 PM
Its not a wire, its a vacuum pipe.

It wont change the exhaust noise, might give a bit of induction noise though.

John
23-08-09, 08:34 PM
Well after having an argument with my dad he no longer let me put alloys on the corsa, so ahd to drive 110 miles round trip to get my old steelies back :( (Cheers John your a life saver), so got them fitted back on, and also fitted my backbox off Draper, i wanted a big one that was fairley loud, and this is exactly what i was after lol

Gutted for you Dave! hope your dads calmed down a bit! :thumb:

Dave i use to have so much respect for you for what you did with your Nova.
Now what are you doing to this corsa ?
All your doing is making a reason for people to take the micky out of it.
I dont think you want that.
Get back to doing nice mods like you did to the Nova.
At the end of the day its your car and upto you what you do with it but just trying to help.

12-09-09, 10:47 AM
This is my "Works/Going out with mates/Car i dont mind if it gets nocked or stolen" kinda car, and all ive done to it really is a different exhaust, new wheels, and afew interior mods, kinda' like the nova.

Basically, this car is something i can experiment with, because i dont really want to be modifying the nova to a stupid amount, as that would ruin it, so im sure everyone would agree they would rather me do it to a 5dr corsa than my imamcuulate nova lol

Well not updated this in a while

Following the fire at the garage at the end of last month, the Corsa has now been moved to my Grandads house for now, the Corsa wasnt too badly damaged, mainly just sooty and dirty

Anyway, this has given me a chance to get some things together for the car, as im now working woo!)

Soooo, lets get on with it

Picke dup a set of 15" shot blasted Tigra wheels off Twistysnovagte off here, had them professionally painted in "Vauxhall smoke grey" at work and popped my 195/50/r15 rubber on them. Look the business now!

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/DSC02444.jpg

Popped them on, not the best pics as the garage is mega-small and it was raining:

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/DSC02454.jpg

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/DSC02453.jpg

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/DSC02441.jpg

As you can see, they look lovely and new and shiney

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/DSC02451.jpg

Then, fitted my MOMO CORSE wheel after i got a vauxhall boss from my scrappy:

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/DSC02447.jpg

Calibra leather interior made to fit/trimmed to go into a corsa! from a 3r so requires abit of fettling, but its in amazing nick!

Drivers seat:

Passenger seat:

Rear bench back:
http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/DSC02458.jpg

Enjoy :) :thumb:

Dont look too bad mate, cant really complain for £80 hey ! Was it stolen and recovered ? As has already been suggested you should deffo lower it ! I know you say that you want to keep it practical for everyday use but -30 or 45mm isnt going to make it unpractical but will look alot better ! My car that i use everyday is very very low and in the past year and a half i've only ever once had a scrape when going out of a very steep sloped car park.

Finally managed to get the welding done this week, cut out the old rust:
http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/DSC02546.jpg

After afew attempts of welding on old metal etc, and with the help of Tom at work, i finally managed to pluck up the courage to have a go on my car, after cutting an old patch off a Zafira doorskin, heres the result:

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/DSC02547.jpg

All the other rust was taken back to metal, primed and sealed also, to stop it getting worse.

Nocked this up over the week also, using a Insignia wheeltrim badge:

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/DSC02542.jpg

Also, fitted blue clock l.e.d's and fitted some white dashboard l.e.d's to make it look abit more modern:

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/DSC02550.jpg

And also started to attack the bonnet rust:

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/DSC02551.jpg

Thats all for now, probabley get the suspension fitted next week,

Oh and also, its now having a FULL respray :D :thumb:

Post-97 rear bumper, according to the stickers onit it came off a Corsa around 8 years ago that we repaired and the car had a new one, and this was too good to throw away, untill now

Check out the dustage yo'!

Well, she PASSED! :thumb:

Said it was very clean for its age, clutch needs adjusting and could benefit from a new set of discs & pads, but funds are low atm, so they will have to wait

Anyway, here she is in the carpark, lovely sunny day

And heres my bumper i painted, it was my first time ever at painting with a gun, Kev said my basecoat technique was spot on like a pro, however i put the laquer on too much too soon, and got a 4ftx5inch run right the way across the bottom of the bumper lol, so its getting sanded and pained again

Fitted my rear OMP brace i got off a 3dr at my local scrappy

Side shock absorber trim thingymabobs cut so the brace can pass through:

And now for all you that say "Their pointless they do sweet fcuk all youve wasted your money" etc etc, your wrong

It acts as a brace for my sub and amp, totally solid now, no more slidey slidey round the boot:

Get ready for a budget update lol

Started out on Monday at work, Green N reg Corsa came in for a back end shunt, turns out it was too far gone to repair (suprise suprise) so the insurance wrote it off, anyway i noticed it had a pair of silver Depo headlights, so i went to the scrappy, got myself a set of standard ones, took them into work, and swapped them on the sly whilst no-one was looking

Stage 1 complete: Steal Depo's lol

Next i thought to myself that ive heard of people heating up standard sets of Depo's and removing the glass, so i thought id give it a go to try and make myself a tinted set, however i got told that you need them upto around 100*c for afew minutes, which i couldnt do, so i chucked them in the paint baking oven right infront of the blowers for half an hour at 60*c, WHALLA! the glue heated enough to melt, and i prised off the glass
Stage 2 complete, remove glass

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/DSC02747.jpg

Then, i seperated the inside surrounds:

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/DSC02748.jpg

Next step was to sand down the inside silver surrounds and give them a coat of primer, and matt black aerosol that i borrowed from work
Stage 4 complete, TINTAGE!

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/DSC02749.jpg

After they dried, i bonded them back together with windscreen sealer that i again...borrowed from work lol

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/DSC02767.jpg

Then i fitted them, WHALLA! a set of 110% FREE smoked Depo headlights, building on a budget! :thumb:

IIRC the law states that the only text on the plates can be the venders adress/name, however i put it through an MOT with these on and it passed

Tbh, i think aslong as youve not got stupid lettering, and the AMPR cameras can read it, unless you get a brown noseing policeman, you should be okay :thumb:

Lets update this **** lol

Shocker sticker is now gone :thumb:

Hated these, as they do naff all to support your head and look really small

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/DSC02908.jpg

So a trip to the scrappy found a 3.0l v6 Omega withh full elather trim, so nicked the hollow square headrests from it

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/DSC02909.jpg

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/DSC02912.jpg

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/DSC02913.jpg

Got them in, then went back for another mooch, and found it had rears aswell, so after bending the pins 180* with sheer brute force, they were swapped also

One in...
http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/DSC02910.jpg

All in

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/DSC02911.jpg

These actually support your head aswell, which is much better

Edit:- Their all facing the correct way even though the rears dont look it, its because their leaning forward, and also their a spot on colour match, just the camera brings it out different, and my seats could do with a clean

Dave.
06-07-10, 01:32 AM
This was doing my head in for a while aswell, old manky yellow looking numberplate light

Looking good dude. I would of left the small headrest in the middle of the rear seat, the 3 full sized headrests dont look right imo.

Grey mirrors, painted in work to match the car so i can get rid of the grey ones, however smashed one glass putting it back in

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/DSC02952.jpg

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/DSC02953.jpg

Corsa dash mat

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/DSC02959.jpg

Silver 5-speed knob, with reverse in the right place!

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/DSC02960.jpg

Silver centre dash plastics, but unsure on these atm, but will see what they look like in

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/DSC02961.jpg

FULL set of aero wiper blades & arms

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/DSC02962.jpg

And i know most of you didnt liek these, but their going back in

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/DSC02965.jpg

And for all you legal brown-nose's out there, when light hits them, they DO shine red...somehow, considering their jet black

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/DSC02964.jpg

And also aquired these from work, which one to use? Considering badgeing it all up using the new logo

http://i61.photobucket.com/albums/h80/x_novadose_x/DSC02963.jpg

thats all for now :thumb:
