Cos the local council are fuktards who dont know a good thing when they see it, the owners went bust in 2004 and its lain empty ever since and rather than pay rates on an empty building they have torn it down since the council bought it in 2006 they have refuse many offers to revive it.buy it and just let it get reduced to rubble!


Soooo many memories have been demolished with this place and it will be sorely missed!

Tis a shame but the place was becoming a right dump way back in 2002, probably earlier. Sadly most of the other places at that side of town started closing up around that time, and it was left as pretty much the only place open on that side of town, old town and paragon square were stupidly busy.

This place was the first ever place i got into way back when, i was seventeen just turned and back then it was shirt trousers and shoes only, back when dress code meant something and you didnt get all the fight happy charvers everywhere, and it was 22+ on a saturday night so when i got in at the age of 17 i was gobsmacked and after that i used to go in every friday and saturday for years, i miss this place along with so many others:cry:

agreed. i got in at the age of 15, back in 2001. happy days. i now work next door and have watched em knock it down. apparently it will alll be gone by next tuesday. theyre also knocking down the old council depot behind it. and making it all into a carpark. what a waste...

And he was saying circus circus is next once LA's is flat and all of the shops across that side "richer sounds" and all that lot....

I spent my clubbing youth in this place and it was just one of those uber perfect "gets under your skin" type places and there has never been anything like it since, not round here anyways, its like the last of the great nightclubs, its all cafe bars round here now, cafe culture has killed clubbing..

Hell ive seen jason donovan in there, timmay mallet, black eyed peas, jordan.. and thats just the ones i can remember off-hand:eek:

Tbh though spudders and sloth if any town needed a re-model then it is this place, I just wish they'd do it right.

The way they've done it so far,

Rebuild the main road between town and the docks into dual carriageway - Happened 20 years too late, and the usefullness of it is negated by the fact it can still take an hour to get across the middle of town because they didn't build that bit properly in the first place. And it only has a 40mph limit (50 would easily be safe, infact most people do about 60 on it).

Rebuild the bus station and add and ugly new building full of shops -well yeah the old station was past it's best but now the buses have to reverse out of the pick-up bays with people running around them (what happened to H+S there then?), and the new shop space effectively emptied half the rest of the town of anywhere to go, leaving loads of un-used buildings in well known shopping areas.

Knock down a few other buildings - basicly because they're bored imo! And why replace them with car parks when they're supposed to be getting people to use things like park 'n' ride?

Going back to the trouble of getting across town, what they should have done way back ing the early 80's is built dual carriageway through Viccy dock (now a housing estate next to the river), through the deep (another farce), right through fruit market and over the top of the marina, then land it on top of the arena and off up to sulli way. - Guess what they're doing instead? Replacing the arena junction with either a sunken road (in Hull? anyone remember the tunnels on ennerdale link road? lmao) with round-about on top or make it a bit smaller with a flyover on top for through-town traffic. Yeah, that's really gonna help.

i know what you mean about all them happy memorys down the pan. a club we used to go to in stoke shut down a couple of years ago and is now a casino!! also the local club in our town is pritty small, n genrally pritty sh1t, but weve had some ace nights in there with many happy memorys, you know the ones that kind of hurt and making your stomache feel bad because them days are gone.. im sure it will shut down 1 day and it will be a shame! feel for you bud.

I had many good nights in there,and im sure i was in there on its last night back in 2005.Towards that point it wasnt as popular simply as that "route" in town was gone.At the end of the day,even if it re-opened tomorrow it still wouldnt ever be the same again.The rest of the clubs remaining are now utter dog muck.If you like being pilled off your pickle and fighting over fukk all then they good i suppose.
They have knocked loads of buildings down there lately,i was born and bred there and moved to Scarborough 2 years ago.Now every time i go down visiting friends and family something else has gone.They have demolished more buildings in 2 years than the whole time i lived there!

I know what you mean about the decline of LA's before they went under but its still a damn shame theyve just wasted it, why couldnt the building be converted like KU2/planet earth was as thats now lazer quest!
