View Full Version : my wee road trip yesterday

Well after seeing an advert in the "cars wanted" section the other day tht was relitivley close to me at a very cheap price i couldnt miss it!
We left the house at 8am to head to edinburgh to pick up the 1.3sr. stopping at the scrap yard on the way up to get steel wheels as the guy wanted to keep his alloys they only set me back £10. Arrived at the guys house at 12.30 after a few food stops (quite a lot!). We got a good look round the car but i knew even before i got there no matter how much rot there was i was taking it as there was a lot of goodies on it i could use on mine or sell on then eventually restore the shell. after having a good look round the shell we realised that it infact was ok only needing a smell repair on the drivers rear chassis leg. and apard from a poor repair of the rear arches where you can see it bubbling slightly at the welds the shell was well worth it! So after sorting the guy his money we set abous getting the car on the trailer to head home. After stopping in at kevins (16vnovakev) for him to get a look at it and for me to get a look around his gte (which is slowly getting there.!)

Flushed Tailgate
L.E.Ds in wingmirror for signals
Badboy bonnet and custom louvres up the sides
Mk 2 lights and grille
Full S/S Exhaust
4-2-1 Manifold
Twin 40 Webbers
Piper Cam ( not even done 200 miles )
Head skimmed only once
New pistons about 1000 miles ago
Close Ratio Box ( not sure which model )
2.0 Astra GSI disc concersion front and rear
De-locked doors ( Eagle 2 Clifford alarm central locking )
Engine bay and underside sealed since ownership
Has spax springs and dampers ( 40mm lower I think )

Omg it looks like stevie wonder did the wiring in the dark but ive seen the for sale thread and know how much you gave for it so you are one utter jammy barstool for that one, there are lots of toys in there, well done!

Btw the seats made me cringe as im a valeter and i know how hard dog hairs are to remove lol

the guy told me it was running on 3 cylinders and knocking.... got it home fired oil in it and tried it. took about half hour to get going but it runs fine.

back to mk1.....maybe lol but yeah standard apart from engine. going to service the disc beam and swap it for the LET one same with the interior,dash and trim.

well after we put this in the lockup it got broken into that night. all the parts off the LET were spread all over the yard and theres about £1000 worth of snap-on and tengtools gone missing.

they never touched the nova or the beetle that was in there just took the tools and spread my stuff everywere??? they left a can of beer though so hopefully they will get the dna of prints
