i used a heat gung and screwdriver. dont get it to hot and it will come up in big peaces. not just melt into a goo

Hammer and Chisel I used one on of my old Nova's...

Time consuming as feck though - Took me about an hour and a half to do the bit that's under the back seats

I found a heat gun made the glue on the back fail and made it ductile enough to resist being pulled up, I even have a pic somewhere of the entire passenger side strip in one piece outside the car.

i stripped every last bit of soundproofing from my car with a heat gun and by half way i realised if you heat it only slightly it all comes out very easily. heat it too much and you end up just scraping glue around

The proffesional/proper way to do it is by using a heat gun and scraper. If you dont get the sound deadening too hot the majority of the glue comes off with the sound deadening. A wipe round with some panel wipe/degreaser to finish will complete the job. It took me around 20mins to do mine, be gentle with the scraper and if its a track car you wouldnt even have to paint it out afterwards. Theres definatly no need to use an air chisel or similar... That would be brutal and make an unecessary mess imo!
