As some of you may remeber that ive been doin a lot of work to my SRI this winter, so here's some updated pics of how its looking (theres quite a few so it may take some ime to load).

The interior is coming together nicly now, jus need to pick up my carbon door cards, and then start work on my false floor. As for the outside ive nearly put it all back together (spent loadsa time wax oil'in etc.) it jus needs a good polish. So here's how its looking as ofthis morning when i washed it....

Yeh i have been considering adding a splitter, but im not quite sure, i was looking at yours at trax this year (you were parked acrosss from me on the NL stand), and it looked smart. The problem is the amount of speed bumps around my area i doubt it would last long :(

Chris LR
10-02-03, 04:21 PM
I'd leave it alone.

Even a renault splitter will enhance it.

Renault and golf ones are flexible, so speed humps dont matter too much.
(although mine was mega low i got through 3 of the buggers cos they kept getting trashed lol)

i had to go slow over speed humps anyway otherwise my exhaust and cat rubbed.

If you want a VR6 splitter i have one here in the garage still (i think) uncut and ready to fit after a bit of trimming.

Seat ibiza ones are flexible 2, i'm forever bending mine!!!

Cheers for all the compliments, i was quite suprised after i had washed it this morning its not had any polish yet after being sprayed and it looks really shiney

Mike, i was looking at your motor yesterday in the gallery and it is very similar, i really like your rims, i was considering getting them at one point

Freak, cheers i might have that off you if you have still got it, im still not 100% sure if it would last a day arond here. Ive got a laguna splittler in the garage off of my brothers cavy GSI but im not that keen on it (but maybe thats because it was never fitted correctly to his bumper)

Also what do you all think about badges on the back, i have been considering putting an SRI badge the same as in the front grill on the boot but i quite like the street sleeper aproach, im not sure if it would look a bit tacky?

Very nice mate. I have a red SR (Soon to be a 1.6i) and going for a similar theme. Got some 15" Cav/Astra Cesaro wheels for mine and planned on keeping it simple. Not a big fan of bodykits and lots of fibreglass on Nova's.

Where did you get your cage? How much?

Cheers

Ross

ollster
10-02-03, 06:45 PM
the cage is from roll centre mate, it cost just over ?200 with the fixed diagonal and harness bar

10-02-03, 06:51 PM
Thanks mate

Something to think about for the future. I cant spend to much money, having to sell my Astra as it is to buy a house and the Nova was only supposed to be a cheap runabout but im getting carried away, the missus is going div

What can i say about this car its smart as f**k very tidy i thought mine was but this is really tidy very nice r those wheels off the tigra or the vectra but arnt the vectras 5stud :? and wot offset r they if u no. and nice choice ov bucket seats same as wot im gettin but in blue. uve got a minter there.

ollster
10-02-03, 10:25 PM
Cheers mate, the rims are early vectra ones (the very early vectra's were 4 stud), they are et 49mm offset, and in my opinion they are probably the best wheels Vauxhall have made in 4 stud. The seats are really good too, not easy to get them to fit right, but they are really comfortable. I am correctly looking at the different options for harnesses, and the are not cheap, the safety devices one's that I want are about ?100 each!

techie
10-02-03, 10:54 PM
Yeah they are nice. Really suit it. I got these for my Nova...

http://mig.lathwood.co.uk/uploads/Alloy1.jpg

And got some 195/45 Toyo Proxes for them. Also got a Gmax suspension kit for it to drop it 60mm :)

ollster
10-02-03, 11:20 PM
Those rims will look smart, they are in good condition. I think i have seen your old astra on MIG before was it a silver two door? Your not doin bad with the nova considering you are not supposed to be modding it

techie
10-02-03, 11:29 PM
My Astra....still for sale btw

http://mig.lathwood.co.uk/uploads/28.12.02f.jpg

I said to the missus if I got to sell it (which I know I have anyhow) im gonna have some fun with an old motor. I got the 1.6 engine for the Nova for ?170 and rebuilding it myself so costs are low. Wheels were bought second hand and I get and fit tyres from work. So it aint costing the earth.

And you aint the only Oliver Hewitt I know, either that or your leading a very clever double life and you also have a 1.4 Astra which looks rather like a GSI:)

ollster
11-02-03, 12:17 AM
yes that is very odd isnt it i pm'ed olly off mig and he didnt belive that my name was Oliver Hewitt aswell. He doesnt live very far form me either i think. The astra looks mint by the way, have you got any pics of your nova, sounds like its gonna be a nice motor when its finished.

Minter!! good choice of buckets, just fitted the same ones in mine in blue and full false floor with hidden 6x9s etc :)
I know wot u mean abt the seats, steering wheel off to the left is it? hehe, i dont mind it really :)

No pics of the Nova yet mate. Will post some possibly tomorrow. Its still on its ghastly three spokes. Ive not picked the car up yet. Im buying it from a mates girlfriend whan she gets her new car soon. Im just getting bits ready for it so I can get modding straight away.

ollster
11-02-03, 03:43 PM
definatly post sum pics up when u get it.

i think that you are doing the same interor theme as me nova nutter

mikesri
11-02-03, 05:27 PM
ollster, Keep the back end as it is!!! It looks just right as it is!!! May be put a new SRi badge on the doors????

ollster
11-02-03, 09:27 PM
cheers mate i have decided to leave the bodywork as it stands now, just a few hundred coats of autoglym, and i will let the paint do the talking

Euan
11-02-03, 09:53 PM
thats perfect mate!

think it could benefit from a single wiper conversion?

ollster
12-02-03, 11:11 AM
im not 100% keen on single wiper conversions, im looking into putting pug 306 rear plastic wipers on the fornt because they look a lot more modern than the nova ones

Freak
12-02-03, 01:48 PM
For a single wiper conversion you use a Pug 306 rear wiper arm....

mikeoxford
12-02-03, 03:36 PM
:D love the paint

love the car

shame i had to park next to you at trax and shw up my blemished roof!

however!

all is not lost as im having the rest of it mopped in a week or so.

well u no what i think of ur car mate ne how so i wont go on..........

8) respect

ollster
12-02-03, 04:41 PM
cheers mike, hows yours coming along, did you get teh engine sorted?

Freak, i am told that you can use the new shape 306 rear plastic wipers as a direct replacement for the nova ones

Freak
12-02-03, 04:48 PM
Not sure what you mean?

The pug 306 rear arm is straight- and perfect size and fit for a single wiper conversion- as myself and many others have used one in conjunction with a slightly modified linkage.

If you mean put two 306 rear wipers in place of the nova ones :?: wtf? Would look rather strange.....

Nova-Flair
12-02-03, 05:34 PM
looks very very tidy well done m8!

i have a chrome irmscher badge on my tailgate looks quite tidy. if u change yer mind and want a badge there that is!

instead of a splitter u considered an unpainted grey GSI one? slightly lower than the standard ones but wont clip the speed bumps.

ollster
12-02-03, 10:11 PM
freak i mean like this http://www.knighta.f9.co.uk/gallery/leeowen.htm

I have considered a GSI front bumper nova-flair, but i would want it in the stadard grey plastic i i dont think you ca get it like that

NuTtY nOvA fLaIr
12-02-03, 10:35 PM
ollster u can get the GSi in grey from vauxhall and others dealers

mikeoxford

ollster u can get the GSi in grey from vauxhall and others dealers

yup

olly olly olyy! do it mate!

paint it and your alloys anthractice too if your feeling flash.

you CAN get gsi bumpers the colour you want and in preimer there is two pt numbers and i have seen them in the flesh

olly mate my car is coming on slowly but surely, its not a show stopper, but its the way i want it and its getting something like........

how many BHP does your 1.4MPi put out......?

ollster
12-02-03, 11:02 PM
It doesnt put enough out im bored of it (around 100bhp). Im looking around for an early 1600 16v at the moment that i should get finished for next year. Its gonna be stupidly shiney (might even have the block stripped and polished) goin rally slag style hopefully with throttle bodies pocketed pistons, a warp drive etc .
Hmmmmmmmmmmm anthractice wheels now thats been something that i have been considering for a while
