My yearly subs are up, so im looking to add a free anti virus system.

I've heard even if i delete norton it will still hang around slowing my laptop down.

Can anyone give me some advice on how to get rid of it, and what i can use to replace it, mrs hobbit can get free mcaffe (sp) through work, but i've also heard thats not much better :tard:

Please remember im useless when it comes to all things computers so keep it simple :D

Norton works in the same way a virus does, Running silently in the background although it may be good it is like a virus its self Google (http://www.google.com/search?q=how+to+completely+remove+norton&sourceid=navclient-ff&ie=UTF-8&rlz=1B3GGGL_enGB259GB261&aq=t) is your friend.

I need to renew my norton subscription today but as it slows down the pc so much im thinking of downloading a free one as well, avast only gives you a 60 day trial, is it worth buying after that or what else is there?

AVG was good until it became bloatware.

I use AVG (on demand), Spybot, Ad Aware, Malware Bytes and Avast. Malware Bytes is my favourite.

avast pro you have to buy but the home one is free - jus have to register and they send you a code

agree with rj on the malwarebytes too - its a good little malware scanner
