there are no pics. there is no evidence of my pathetic attempt other than some freshly cut edges on the car. everything else is in bits/in the bin/has severe hammer rash

so if there is ne weld how do you know you cant? you cannot say you cant do something till you try.

i've been trying since 10 this morning, spent the last hour getting back to square 1
as said pics or gtfo asa. it wont be as bad as mine, and i got an mot....
lmao when i 1st welded i thought id got a mint weld went to tap the 1 edge down and the steel went flying across the workshop!! man i was fuked off!!

Grant, I might ask a favour when I get a new saloon to reshell mine :D
I had a shot with a welder once that my dad has. Actually managed some pretty clean welds, but that was just with random bits of metal held in a vice.
I'd like to try again, but the wire doesn't come out very smoothly now so it tends to spatter a lot :( Keep meaning to get my own welder to have a go with, but don't have a clue where to start or what to buy

i got my self a clark 135te and its been a fantastic little machine.

That's exactly what I was going to reccommend, the tutorials are pretty good on there.
