1st and 2nd seem to be the same ...almost

Gearbox ..again ,

I have a F16 in my nova currently and I’m not getting along with the gears what-so-ever.
When I’m changing from first to second there isn’t much of a difference; is it meant to be like this, as it drops only about 500 RPM so I need to change up again almost instantly .

It becomes tiring in the corners as you can’t get any power down as it just wants to spin, even on semi throttle as its acting like 1st gear !!.

When coming down through the gears it can be rough as the rev’s jump up high when going into 2nd.
I find you can’t sometime change down before the corner because its too fast for the gearbox in 2nd however it wouldn’t be on cam in 3rd ?

Do I just have to blip the accelerator to match the revs to make it smother and get used to shifting a lot more?
Or would a different gearbox help?
The engine is running about 140 bhp (1.6 16v ..Rev happy)

Just so people know, this is the first car I have ever owned that has any real "playfull" power, so I wouldn't be supprised if I'm being t*t .

shouldnt be like that as far as im aware, should be a big difference well bigge than 500rpm between the two

I thought it would drop at least 1,000 rpm but I'm not sure. It seems to have a terminal speed in 2nd around 45-55 mph , which again I didn't think was quite right ?

Do you know the final drive and if its CR or WR?

Its close , not sure of the final drive. I will check after work

My f16 hits about 60 in second, i learnt this when thinking i was in 4th and too busy listening to the loud music (so chav lol)....

My top end is about 140, so i think i have the f16cr

But as for your question, i think you have a problem as my second does feel like a second gear rather than just an extended first.

Yer, i deffo thing your just selecting 1st again? that or somone has been playing with that box.

The 500 lost would problery be the gearchange time?

F20 will do 57 in 2nd on a 195 45 rolling radius at 6750

So 55 sounds about right - it will only drop around 700 rpm iirc, so just get used to it! ;)
