misses 1.2 fuked!

right the misses is learning to drive, so i got here a corsa 1.2 spi,

she keeps moaning its very slow!

so i drove it today and jesus its slow! 0-60 50seconds:eek:!

any ideas whats up with it?

it drives fine,dont smoke and just had a service!

checked the hole car over and all is good!

i drilled the airbox and put new plugs in today and is a tad better!

sounds like the cambelt has jumped a tooth, My old 1.2i did this once.

yer i might have done, but if your no in a hurry to get any where then its ok to drive!
tops out at 65 on a stright road and 80 on a steep hill!! (i mean steep)!!!

If it runs and drives fine then id say its just coked up with years of crap from being driven unbeleivably slowly by a granny for years, my old spi 1.2 nova did about 70mph flat out when i first got it, after a bit of running in and thrashing running in then a thrash (hit the top of each gear once in a while and got blat down the motorway, that kind of thing but dont just drive it on the limiter all the time lol) and you should see a noticed improvement, i had over 110 (indicated on the clocks so probably about 50 mph lol) and felt a lot quicker, try this over a few weeks!

the one i have for sale is slow aswell i think that they just are a bit poo, mine will scrape 80 on the flat tho (eventually) lol

well it might clean the carb,de-cat and put a 4 branch on it then go from there!

Tbh if you are looking for more power just fire in a 14 sri engine.... modding the 1200i...won't see much gains

didnt really wanna change engines as when police do there checks they can see the engines been changed!

as cars always get pulled over and engine numbers checked!!

I never suggested that you do it illegally...

to be honest by the time you are done modifying the 1.2 spi then your insurance would probably cost as much as a swap. up to yourself

shes only 18 so dont want high insurance!

her insurance say's you can go 3 mod's to the engine before the policy goes up!

fair enough.... theres a 1.2 spi tuning guide on here, see that. few cheap mods on that, but don't expect to be pinned to the seat. good luck
