Ernie text me at 10am this morning asking if i was about and would i like to go to the drag strip with him and some lads for the CRX forums, so i though hell why not!

I said the nova needed some attention to the fuel tank though!

So when he turned up at just gone 11am i was under the car cleaning the tank seam ready for some metal putty to be bodged over the seam! lol

So that done, we then noticed his header tank didn't look to healthy, so on went my Baily tank that was sat doing nothing..lol

We finally got there at about 2pm?

Singed on and hit the strip!

We both got two runs in, and then poor Ernie had a fail, his throttle cable came off! so while he was left at the side trying to fix it i got on with some jap car slaying! lol

Few Scooby's CRX's Civic type R etc etc.

Did 6 Runs
1) 14.2 @100.4 mph
2) 14.1 @102.09 mph
3) 14.08 @103.78mph
4) 13.94 @102.60mph
5) 14.61 @102mph missed 2nd lol
6) 13.92899 @ 103.60mph

Thin Ernie's was 14.000 flat at just over 100mph

There was a few other GM cars there, cossie powered Chevette, V8 Manta, VXR Corsa, Corsa xe totally stripped doing 13.2's :eek:

EDIT: Forgot to mention, there was a CRX with full C/F body panels, and i mean every body panel was C/F, it had the integra v-tec engine with a turbo and nitrous, was doing 11 @134mph...thank good it was not street legal! lol

Even though Chris didn't have the best of days it was a nice day, was nice to see him again, and good to thrash the car up 1/4, was perfect weather too, I'm burnt like hell!

Nice write up Scott and thanks for a nice day out.
After limping the car home (Well untill i was nearly home then gave it death)i got in around 7ish.
The car drove fine on the way home with the nut and bolt bodged up throttle cable.
Im heading off to the bike shop later to get a new end then to boots for some aftersun lol.
I didnt take any pics as i forgot i had left the camera rolling in the car after the first run.
As Scott said i only did 2 runs.
1) 14.00 @102.37
2) 16.143 @53.38 (throttle cable fail)

Well i think i got the faster times as i stiffened the Avo's on the rear slightly, and let some air out the front tyres (which i must add are these random ones) 195/45-15"Elang Perdana, Accelera Alpha's (http://www.eptyres.com/detil_products.php?category=AcceleraSeries&thumbnail=cat_tornado.jpg&title_list=Accelera%20Series&sub_category=Accelera45Series)
But considering my engine's internals are all standard, and i only have atb diff, and paddle clutch i was happy to get below 14, but i reckon with my fiberglass bonnet/boot on and some Plexiglas rear windows it will be faster..

To be fair we only went for the hell of it, if i had been going to try get some crazy new fast time then i would of ditched a few items, lol so would you, you had a spare wheel/tool kit don't forget!

What 60ft times were you getting? Thought your times should be slightly better if you have a diff!

Mine on the fastest run was 60ft:2.389
EDIT: Just looked at all my slips and they are all around 2.3 to 60ft

That looks like where you were losing time then. Not bad given your Tyres though. Should be closer to 2.1 with diff and road tyres.

I was quite surprised, and happy considering the tyres etc, and the same engine minus the diff would only do 14.2 in my old shell.

Would do if i was entering 1/4 mile runs competatively for prizes etc, but as it's built for track there's not much point.
