engine cleaning and degreasing

just looking for the best ways to clean and degrease my gsi engine?
im tryin a soak in diesel at the moment, but just isnt giving the effect i need.
any one have any tips, any help appreciated.

truck wash FTW!
but be quick with it DO NOT let it soak in
otherwise you wont have a engine left lol
