Threaten to complain to the insurance ombudsman - for every complaint they recieve they charge the insurance company £500 (irrespective of the outcome)

Usually gets things moving !

There is no point in this thread because EVERY insurance company would tell you exactly the same. This is standard practice, you have entered into a contract for a year, you will therefore have to pay for your years insurance.

for instance you could insure a car for £5000 and say pay £100 a month. only pay the first months and then claim back £5000!!!!! really not gonna happen is it

yea its all down to you paying the policy up front but the direct debit route is just like them lending you the money for the years premium. When you claim you have to pay back the loan so to speak.

should of waited till you got the pay out then cancel the direct debit.

I used to work for Egg many moons ago, as already said, standard industry pratice.

Just a shame Egg dont insure modified cars though.......
