Look hard for rot. Makes a great car with a LET, gorgeous to look at too.

Imagine having a Nova GSi, Astra GSi & Cav GSi, all in Diamond Black?

They look awesome on turbo rims. They were sold in South Africa like this, even in 5door with the GSi style skirts.

Yeah nice cars, theres a fair few rusty phase 1's though, I'd say go for a phase 2 but the phase 1's nicer, rear arches and petrol flap areas are key spots for rust, at least witha phase 1, you'll make some money back with the sale of the XE

Brilliant cars! Had a J plate one with a Let in it running good power a few years back. Handles it very well! Loved it to bits even though it got me a ban

Nice looking cars. Even better with an LET in, as said though they rot like sin. Much more than any 'modern' car should IMO!

Search for the user RC on here, or MIG. He used to have a Nova but now owns an LET'd mk3 GSi and is building a 4WD one IIRC (haven't spoke for a bit)

TBH the sporty Mk3s are nice cars, look hard for rot as said though, they see to hide it really well!!

Front suspension top mounts are common MOT failure on them, rear archs an around the filler cap are prone to rust, rear black plastic exterior boot panel is prone for falling off too lol along with the front indicator lense covers for some reason?

Mk2 FTW, but mk3's have the looks really. Out of the showromm, possibly one of GM's best efforts of recent years. Looks almost unidentifiable next to a poverty spec mk3.

Jack. Lets face it, most Vauxhall enthusiasts are highly biased, me one of them, but I have pics of GSi's from Autotrader in like 1994. When they were fetching £12k with 20k miles. Most people have liked them from day 1 & will never see the side of them you do. I get your opinion totally.

Mk3 GSi's are the ones! - It would have to be an early one with the XE in it but mind you the Ecotec GSi's are nice as well

Very tidy cars but they do rust quite bad...

For some reason, GSi Astras are one of the only Vauxhalls worth more in the UK than in Ireland. They never really caught on. They're dead on but pretty bulky and big for what they are. I know a lad that had 3 and wrote 2 off claiming the handling was poor and another mate that went through more 1/4 panels than hot meals.

That said, they should be good, but according to the evidence I've been given, they arent.

I say get a GSi Cav instead, 4 doors and loads of Scope. They're getting rare now andthey, along with the Nova, are reaching the Enthuiast, not the Chav, stage.

I to like them allot, had though about putting my TB'd XE in one instead of the nova, and using it as everyday car etc.

I would either find an immaculate early GSi with XE,or LET already in it, pay the extra money now instead of waste it later, or do as Sloth said, pic up a late 1.6 sport or smiler and do all the work your self.

Look the bollocks with Cav/Cally T rims in white, lowered a bit.

ANything other than standard bodywork is pants aswell.

But they are nice cars, but I'd still have a mk2 over one anyday of the week!
