Right, i've been aproached by a client who after seeing my 4x4 astra is looking for the for his corsa a (nova).

It's already got a let an f28 and 5 stud.

Just hoping you guys can point me to any project/wip on here of any similar nature, i can already think of the cossie nova. any other out there.

As i'm pretty sure a calibra rear end will be too wide, so looking at other options.
But was thinking as to weather a Locked TX box could be mated in using a cav internal shifter???

Next hurdle is that the car is in martinique (carribean) but i think the guy will ship it over, could be hard getting welder and all my tools through customslol

Apreciate any thoughts on this, and will obviously keep you all updated if this goes ahead. personnaly i thnk he has more money then sense, but each to their own :thumb:

Thanks

Luke

If you know anything about me, then you will know i have already done this into my astra mk3 using a calibra floor, and besides it has already been done into a nova (i.e cossie).

I'm sorry to have to say it but if you haven't got any useful advice or link then P155 OFF. There is aready an area for muppets on this forum and my thread isn't it. Sorry to be harsh, but there is too much of this on the png :(

TBH the easiest solution would be to cut the Nova shell off the GM chassis and bodge it onto something of similar size.

yeah your right john. sorry ernie, but just get fed up of not seeing much constructive reples in general on the forum anymore.

Thats about the route i'm looking at jack, but he wants to keep the let. it's a nightmare trying to work out a price on this one cause it really is a never ending pit!!!

Have alook in search. its been covered many many times and people have said about what cars you can take the 4x4 from thats very close to fit ect.

The only floor pan I think would be near enough a nova and is also already a 4x4 is that of a Subaru Justy.

If you really want you could custom make it all, escort/capri rear axle is roughly the right width.

Will be blooody hard to do tho lol

Ok, lets examine things here.

Mk1 Astra is slightly Larger than a Nova, I dont have the dimensions but it is only 25mm narrower than a Calibra/Cav GSi/Cav Turbo and a Carlton.
Realisiticilly you will need to wide track the car as the easiest solution and use all GM parts. I suggest getting a Cav 4x4 or Calibra 4x4 as a donor car.

Do similar to whats been done here but you'll need to shorted the Prop shaft as the wheelbases wil be pretty different.

A friend of mine has a 4x4 Nova - he has kept it quiet as its still not running (built up in 2003) it uses a Calibra turbo floorpan, spaceframed onto the nova body - it is all plumbed up and should work, but he never got around to finishing it...

Havent spoken to him for 18 months, so I reckon it may have even been scrapped.

Not much help, but to let you know that its usable....

Its possible that you'd get away with the standard shell and the Calibra Floor pan chopped to fit, the engine sits the same way anyway but the only fear is the dodgey 4x4 Transfer Box.

Obviously still a WIP, but the hard bit is done now. Full credit goes to jason, my welder/fabricator, who will make it fit!!!!

Mmmm, Fibre Glass and Expanding Foam. lol

You got a link to the WIP mate?

astraluke

damn it dod you spotted my not so handy work!!!! most of my **** body work was done about two years ago, thankfully another good mate shall be redoing all for me (he used to renovate e types and stuff, bare metal rebuilds and the like.

Na, never started a WIP cause there was always very little work and even less progress, spend most of my time on the cav and nova, so poor astra gets left in it's corner.

why don't you use the calibra stuff and narrowed down floor pan but make your own rear trailing arms then use shortened shafts and prob.

Or djivesp on mIG has just fitted a e30 rear end on his kadett c which must be similar to nova and its 4x100 too. Don't know if you'd be able to mod it to fit the cally diff?

Dod

The Cali Diff is the same as Carlton Diffs, so in theory if you use the GSi Carly back end you can also use the diff but due to the shape and design you cant narrow the Carlton/Calibra back end without a LOT of hassle.

hmm, e30 is out of the window btw, already thought of that, but he has gone 5 stud and wants to stay that way. will have to measure the cally back end and see how far it doesn't fit....:(

lol i was going to refer to this one as well, would be a shame if it wasnt finished as all the hard part was done, engine, box, subframe, all rear end was fitted just needed fuel, wiring and a prop. (and a shed load of bodywork)

They had moved the bulkhead and used a ford escort rack cut into the bulkhead to allow more clearance in the bay.

We should of took some pictures the day we saw it Will.
