View Full Version : Ice Advice? Inverted Subs
I've just finished my first install, and I've installed the sub upside-down, cos I think it looks cool!
What I want to know is what are the benefits/differences/reasons in doing this, sound-quality wise?
Anybody know?
Cheers

hey m8, really like the install, did it take u long 2 make? what did u trim it with??
what makes ur sub??
it wont make any difference as long as when u calculated the box size u didnt include the volume that the speaker usually takes up!!

Cheers dude, Its Maystar cheap stuff, but it looks good huh!
It took me a weekend to put together. I just resommend making cardboard templates of the complicated shapes before you cut anything, cos it's a bit of a nightmare!

I like you build mate.... very impressive - looks the don :!:
What material did you use to line it all with? And where did you get it from?
Cheers Pickle Matey.
It's just covered in standard Accoustic cloth type stuff. The same as you get from Halfords and any Auto-acessory shop. That's the bit I'm least pleased with, I'm trying to think of a different fabric that would look more pro.

I have been looking at some alcantara - its a manmade suede and looks very 'pro'.... although it does cost an arm and a leg. If you want some then go to http://www.boyriven.co.uk or just email marc.duncan@boyriven.co.uk.....

how does the sub sound?????
bit of advice for inverted sub, put the plus wire to the negaticve and the negative to the possative, this will make the sub pound towards the magent, so if u had it normal way it would be pushing the air thats in that confined space, do it the + to - way i said and it'll like suck the air and pound better, this is what i was told so dont blame me if it's wrong.

hes not wrong there
thats what i was always told
cant beleive i got summit right! :D
BUT.....some headunits eg the new pioneer ones have an option to choose whether the sub is the pposite way around and I'm presuming that they carry out this action for you! So if you have a pioneer HU then don't change the neg and pos around and set it to inverted otherwise you will be cancelling yourself out!!!

Mate, stop bringing up old posts! You most likely wont get a reply expecially if the original poster was a newbie!
