View Full Version : C16xe Blue Smoke
Just done an engine conversion and now im getting really bad blue smoke coming out of it when i put my foot down, like so much i cannot see anything behind? number 4 piston is covered in oil and the plug also.
Any ideas?

i bet the rings have gone couple of my mates have had the same problem wont be valve stem seals as you would only goe a puff of smoke when you start up first thing
take it back out again - rings/melted piston/valve/stem seal or all of the above.
If its when you floor it, it will 99% be rings on that cylinder.
Stem seals would give smoke on first startup and over run.
Comp test it

Were these not known for sticky valve guides when new? How would that manifest itself?
The bottom end is supposed to be 30k ish IIRC. Engine no does confirm it to be a replacement unit when my Parts bloke put it into the system. It has an alu OPEL plaque for the engine no.
And for undersize pistons, but most were recalled and sorted. If its a recon block then it should be fine.
Might just be one of those things TBH.....
over-filled with oil?
First thing i checked John.
