Which alternator

Can i interchange anternators from vauxhall to vauxhall. For example; am i able to use a 1.2 8v Corsa alternator on a 1.6 8v Nova?

So long as it's an 8v alternator it should fit, I had a mk3 astra 2.0 8v 70A alternator on both the 13SB and the C14SE engines I had in my SR. It was also fitted to a C14NZ mk3 astra hi-torque for a while before that.

I think even smallblock 16v use the same design.

One thing to keep an eye on is whether the car uses a vee belt or the more modern multi-vee belt. Pulleys are fitted VERY tightly to the shaft and can end up getting destroyed when you try and swap them.

The measurement which i have found varies on (certain) vauxhalls is the distance between the mountings and the pulley. i used a 1.3S (early) Astra Delco alternator on a (later ) 1.6SH Cav and found the pulley sat 7.3 mm further out.... I was able to grind a bit off one of the aluminium bosses on the bottom of the unit, and shim the other two bosses using selected washers.

Vauxhall do like to catch you out.....but not as much as F*rd.
