I just got off the phone with them (Toby, top chap) and I got a wicked quote which I'm going to take them up on when i hear back from the DVLA !!

(I don't live in a high risk area, however there is a thread with all the high risk areas somewhere I believe?)

They won't insure me either, they don't seem very good at all at insuring people in the North-West.

Not very good as a club insurer tbh if there are so many people on the forum they won't insure but as long as some people are happy........

Hi,

we do struggle with the Norhwest area.. this is the highest risk area for car insurance in the UK, as such we have certain postcode restrictions and exclusions.

We make these restrictions as clear as possible and they were discussed with club admin before we set the club scheme up.

Apologies we are unable to help you

Hi Ollie,

That wasn't a dig at you by the way, I know you don't make the rules up.

Just think the club could have thought about these things a bit more before removing Flux as the club insurer as they have far less restrictions and can cater for more people on this forum.

Hi Lee,

there is nothing to stop you phoning Flux matey! We cannot insure every member at the end of the day...

Lee, there is no one "club insurer". Flux will probably still give discount for being in PNG. Its just that Sky take a more active position here.

Dan and Lee had Sky on the list of companies to approach for club discounts from the start (I kept hounding Lee about it lol), its just they were very busy in the first year or so, and didn't get round to it straight off. Concerns were also raised by a number of members with regards to Flux's customer service and handling of claims.

I know there isn't, i'm insured with them.

Probably the wrong time and place for expressing my views anyway so i'll leave it now.

i can bet its those BL1 tossers who do all the claims, leaving us poor BL7ers to take the rap :(

ollie, do you mind if i ask if alot of insurers are the same with north west folk?

is it coz i az got a broad accent yo? lol

I'm pretty sure a couple of people phoned flux for quotes with and then without png membership and found they didn't give any kind of discount anyway

Flux give no club discount, i tried last year!

To be fair i wouldn't have my passat with them if was not for the fact they say they will always beat any quote, and they did so i insured it for another year.

As for the nova, they were not even close compared to Sky, the guy even seamed shocked when i said I'll get back to him, he said mate you think you can beat that quote, i said yes, he said OK buy and hung up on me!!

yes indeed.. with non standard insurers you will find that they will quote you, but the price will have a lot to do with which postcode area you live in.

A fair few other specialists have exclusions and restrictions in the Northwest area.. Bradford, Liverpool, Manchester all suffer from a high claims/loss ratio (eg crashes, stolen cars etc)

Also worth noting that recent stats released show the Northwest area suffers from a very high level of fraudulent claims which pushes EVERYONE'S prices up!
