How cool! Surely not a BTCC car, maybe it's from a saloon series? As we know they were using the Cav around that time.

From my local VX dealer too. Cool.

I have old btcc vidieos from 1988 onwards and that belmont is on one of my vids around 1990 - 1992 you only see it once tho as its being rolled there was a pic posted of it on here a while back think it could have been ste porter who posted it.

back in the bad old days of multi class BTCC, on occasion, vauxhall used to put a production saloon astra in the race to ensure there were 3 cars in the 1601-2000cc class so John Cleland would get class points.. that is how he got his first BTCC Championship

on paper, a belmont would be a fairly good idea for a 2L saloon racer, but the marketing boys would not be so keen, so I'm guessing its a privateer only car.

RML did make a mk3 astra saloon in super touring spec, it was a bit off the pace in BTCC, so it got run in South Africa I believe, it looked quite good though.
