Fuel pump

Bought a 1.4 16v corsa mpi in tank pump off ebay, opened the casing up to get the fuel pump out and its about 1 inch bigger than the nova fuel pump, bearly goes in the tank. Any ideas on what to do, the car splutters a bit when in 4th and put your foot down at say 50mph.

im running a 2lt mk3 cav pump in mine supplys plenty of fuel for the engine(tuned E16SE)

Dont matter what engine the fuel pump is from, mines running a 2.0 item on a standard 1.4.
