Ive been tihnking about joining the RAF for about a year now, im off to a careers presentation at the AFCO in leeds on 19th july. Then soon after that i should get an interview then i'll know from there where i stand!
Well ive passed it all but because they got all they can take for the last training i couldnt go in. The next one i could get into was in six months well about three months left now. Im at home but only for a few mins
was that only because of the trade you want dan?
Well both tbh lol My first choice was a firefighter then the second one was a driver and they both were full  . Well im going in for what i want now so im happy to wait
Stoo is in the RAF, its worth talking to him when he gets back.
Or just thought have alook at threads ive made in the past. Stoo has gave advice in them and lots of other people!

yeah i know that but i do mauy thai, ju-jitsu, college wrestling, and i dont think they will have that in the services well not all of them ha ha ha
well they do alot of things, you have to learn armed combat ect. But just depends how much you want the job. me i would rather have a stable job and great pay and a pension and give one up. but thats me ...................

not as if you can just walk out though if you dont like it
or you get bummed ha ha ha ha ha
Well you do have a option to join or leave. thats what halton is all about. if you dont like halton you wont like the raf ............. And think your on about the navy
so what you are saying is you would rather be in a job (that you may not like) than have a life
I think, in this current climate, id rather have a job that
a) i CANNOT lose, be made redundant, get sacked
b) CANNOT cut my pay in any way shape or form
c) has a guranteed payrise every single year
d) gives me a pension, on top of state pension, from 55
e) provides free medical care
f) provides free dental care
g) provides free uniform and kit to carry out my job
h) gives me AT LEAST 6 weeks fully paid leave a year, plus bank holidays and extra at xmas/new yr etc
i) Pays me to travel to some amazing places, and experience amazing things that a civvy would never ever experience, for free, and in some cases get paid even more to do so.
j) gain FREE extra education! How many people do you know expelled from school with 0 GCSEs join the marines, transfer to ther RAF and are know awaiting streaming to become a pilot in the RAF after 9yrs service and education paid for by the RAF!!!! (thats me by the way ;))
k) provides you with decent food and accomodation, for less than £150 a month for everything!!
l) offers you the chance to do courses that would cost a foirtune in civvy street, ie HGV, CAT C, driving courses, adventure sports etc, anything you can think of, we do it! And if we dont, we soon will with funding requests ;)
m) provides amongst the best training and skills in the world. even if you cant be assed doing education in your own time, you will gain an NVQ and a BTEC just thru your training
On top of all this, you make some of the best friends you will ever meet!! Keepers for life. You train together, Fukk together, fight together. You end up like brothers. ITs the single biggest morale boost life can give you having such close mates both in work and out, watching your back in the pub or on the battlefield!
Does that sound like not having a life??
Oh as for your gym comment, the armed forces have some of the best gyms in the world. FREE, no fees, no closing times, no personal trainer costs etc etc. ALL FREE!!
Im off to new zealand touring with the rugby team in september, yeah, for free!
I played rugby against england students, for the combined services, at Twickenham.
Ive Flown a chinook over basrah city, had a back seat ride in tornados, harriers, hawks, eurofighters...
Ive trained with, worked with, been on operations with the SAS, SBS, SFSG, SRR.
Ive been all over the world for free, Vegas, cyprus, norway, sweden, dubai, ibiza, austria, split, goos bay in canada, iraq, afghanistan, muscat, turkey.......................and got paid extra for all of them
Seen armed combat in 3 different war zones, fought pretty much eye to ewye with the madhi army, mujahadeen, al qaeda, the taliban, gained 5 medals for doing so
Im in afghanistan, right now, as i type this, for the 5th time!!!!
All whilst being paid a bloody good wage!!
Do i need to go on!?!
REcruitment is at its highest for a long time at the moment for most of the reasons
Primarily, job security and diversity!
No brainer to me, you sound like a very narrow minded idiot!
To the OP, go for it mate, i transferred from the marines and never looked back!!
Woop woop, its talib time!
i waana join but im fat lol
^ what a great post "claps hands" :thumb:
Plus rep as i know you love it so much lol
know of any new toys cleared for the tornados to throw at the ground? ;)
currently being a weapons specialist stu, i certainly do ;)
In fact they turn up here this week with said toys!!
brimming with excitement lol
Fukk together,
In true style I was fabricating a wonderful reply to insult you, (as I know you would be dissappointed if I didn't) about the RAF being full of gays, when I notice you fecking admitted it and stole my thunder.
Bloody batty boys :(
Joking aside, call me when your back, we need to meet up :)
LMAO!!!! Cheers Lee!!
Deffo need to meet up, its been too long :)
