as above, dont want to spend money on an engine i'm removing in a coupla weeks, but i think it'll be at PVS with the 1200 in, and its a long drive for me...

if they dont go bang, i might get a belt and take it with me just in case :D

if they do, i'd best pull my finger out and get the 1300 built

im pretty sure 12st have more breathing room than e16's and my belt fell off my 1600 at about 5500rpm and it was fine :)

I thought E16s werent valve safe.... 12's are though.feck all lift on the std cam.

I thought E16s werent valve safe.... 12's are though.feck all lift on the std cam.well i was flying off a roundabout when my bottom pulley fell off, which allowed the belt to jump lol it obviously stalled straight away so i dumped it on the side of the road until the next day. went up tools and spare pulley, put the belt back on and fired straight up :D

as far as im aware all the 8v's are although i can imagine the sri's being very close

i'm sure i've read somewhere that some of the 1.2's (the spi's iirc) are not valve safe, or very close if they are, but all the rest are nicely valve safe

12ST should be fine, I flattened 3 fully charged batteries trying to start one many years ago before I noticed the belt had stripped itself, slapped a new belt on and it ran perfectly fine. 6 months later I bought the car just for the engine and abused it quite hard for another 20k, though had to replace the head gasket twice thanks to corroded water-ways.

Only takes 20 mins to put a new belt on a 1200 anyway

i thought that it was the 1200 and 1600 that are cam safe
