Right, heres the situ, i can have the VXR project pretty much almost kinda finished ready for PV, so i want it there, but my 309 is still busted and aint gonna be back on the road, Burgo was originally going to drag it along but were not 100% now, Ginge is being a let down and not coming so we cant slap a tow bar on his astra, Pagets nova cant really be trusted to do the job aswell as us not having a bar for it! Ballache!! I may have access to a towing dolly (still need to ask) or my brother-in-law has an old decked caravan bed that would just about do the trick if i can get the Nova up and onto it, so basically im after someone who is from near me or will be passing by Leicester who would be up for towing it as a back up incase i cant sort anything... :D cheeky i know but if you dont as you dont get lol

gunny

does it have mot - tax and insurance ?

if not all 4 wheels whave to be off the ground the transport it, so a car flat bed trailer is the only optiion

plus if you do tow without the shafts in the berrings would more than likely colapse a few miles down the road.

yes hes right there pal, cud at least do with a couple of cv joints through each hub, as its the nut on the outer c.v joint that stops the hub coming out of the carrier.

You can dolly with the 2 front wheels off the floor legally, checked this out before when collecting scrappers etc, i know about the bearings etc hence why i want it dollying/trailoring, it cant be towed due to havin no brake servo/lines, wouldnt even put it on a straight bar

No offence but why take a half finished car to a show??

:thumb: Exactly, take it whens its all done to what you'd expect and wanted, dont rush it just to get a quick half show out of it! Half the fun of going to a show is driving it to the event!

People like seeing a car that runs and works at a show rather than a trailerd car! Unless its something outstanding that costs an absolute fortune people will be unimpressed, and YES people will be like that!:(;):D

No offence but why take a half finished car to a show??because whos car is ever actually finished!!! when i took my light blue one i covered the engine up because it didnt have the one i wanted in it

Oh i know that, but from what he is saying it has no engine, gearbox etc. At least your "unfinished" car got there under its own steam! Get it runnin then show it off IMO.

no the engine and box will be in and it should plumbed up and that but theres not enough time to get all the omex hooked up and set up properly to have it running by then

Only if the car is being recovered, can't be done for general transport purposes.

lol when did i say that, is has no brake lines, shafts, and the omex will not be mapped...

Whenever I've been "driving" mates cars that they're towing home with their dad's cars, they've always told me not to brake.

With some CV's in, a decent straight bar and a big tow car I don't see a problem.

car behind should do the braking

Agreed the car behind should do the breaking.

I thought that, but when we towed a mk2 astra gte with a focus, the focus was all over the place when the astra braked.

if ya using a straight bar its reversed the front one does the breaking. i towed a 4dr loon from st helens to hull over the pennines with a 1.2 corsa c on a bar. epic fun. not.

Anyways, regardless of wether i should take it with a few bits missing or not, and i WONT be towing the car with a rope or straight bar, the point was would anybody be interested/able to help me out...

Depends on when you passed your test aswell, if its post 97 you cannot tow a trailer without taking an extra test to do so.

you can tow a trailer upto 750 kilos without taking the trailer test :thumb:depending on the weight of the tow vehicle its self. its all very a grey area hence why you get away with doing it as the police dont have a clue

Novasport

its 750kg including the weight of the trailer so that rules out a Nova as it weighs more than that on its own.
its not just the police, if you have an accident the insurance company will know the law exactly and use it as a get out clause.
