was trying that but they kept braking is there a proper tool for it

Head needs to be heated so that it expands and they are pressed in...

hammering with a punch??? lol

as said the heads are heated up to around 200 degrees F and normaly a neumatic hammer is used to drive the valves out. to refit them it similar process the valves get heated up then cooled and driven back into place.

Only way to do it - unless you put it in your own oven. lol

Any machine shop/engine builder can do it -price will depend on how many need doing.

seats will also want cutting too...and i doubt very much you will have a cutter. i tried buying a stone type cutter and i think that was £250 2nd hand.


i know my mate charges £6 supplied, fitted and seats cut. per guide

ive now dropped the head off to a machine shop to have new valve guides fitted and seats cut in

ive now dropped the head off to a machine shop to have new valve guides fitted and seats cut indeffinetly the best bet imo as altho it is possible to do it at home you'll never achieve the same as the pros with the right kit
