up this morning and me and my dad headed off to my uncles house. loaded the trailer on the back of his Chrysler grand voyager thing which i thought was perfect for towing, til i found out it was a petrol. never mind, only 460 miles to go...

got to dorset in good time, used about half a tank of fuel, met lad off ebay with my new car and had a good look round. not quite as mint as i thought (and its definitely been round the clock, or had a very hard life!) it needs attention on both front doors, passenger side rear arch, passenger side boot corner, and the rear of both sills need a tidy. the front wings are fairly solid, its had a new drivers rear arch recently and has a couple of patches, so it looks like its been looked after. had a quick blast round the carpark and it feels mechanically sound, so while my dad checked it was tied down good un proper i took a coupla snaps...

and the journey home was going so well til we hit the motorway, anything over 50mph and it wanted to turn us around. 220 miles at 50mph = not getting home til gone midnight. its still sat on the trailer!

so, the car cost me £92, and overall it cost £75 in petrol. just have to hope it flies thru its test and i'll have it at pv!

if you tow another one on an ifor williams plant trailer, take the headboard off & put it on forwards. the reason it was wobbly was the weight was all on the back end of the trailer, and trying to lift the car up.

if you'd sat in the back of the voyager, and pretended to be a VIP, it would have helped.

ps. it looks like a good buy, not that i'm biased towards red mk1s at all or anything

the trailer was a free borrow, as was the chrysler, and the advice off my uncle (who owns both) was to put it on backwards as the weight was better at the back. unfortunatly, my dad and uncle are both stubborn know it all's who wouldnt listen... still, it made it home safe!

i have uncles too, and i never take advice from any of them..... and if my dad tells me to do something its usually wrong, but he is a silly old bugger
