its a stong engine, its just that the GSi is a bit tidyer as its newer, with the face lift, newer interior and vented discs, but the GTE is still a classic!

Shouldn't the poll be Mk1 or Mk2?

Same difference :!:

This old chestnut again, can say one thing... This will get UGLEEE

The outcome will be the GSi is more smooth and sleek but the GTE is more menacing and agro.
The end of the day look around and decide what you like, they are both hard to find a clean example, if anything the GTE will be cheaper.

Do what you want.

oh yeah GSi all day long

I love my GTE to bits but will be getting the MK2 dash as its nicer.
I have often wondered myself what the differences between the two were beside for the face lift and interior and bumpers.
But doesnt the GTE have electric windows factory fitted while the GSI has manuals?
And doesnt the GTE have four point fuel injection and the GSi single point?
im probably wrong like as usual
Ohh, and why do insurance companies run screaming at the mention of GTE, but were willing to insure me for a GSi?

apart from the face lift, interior and body kit, not alot is different!

the gte doesnt have leccy windows as standard, so it must be the gsi with them!
also, they have the same engine, 1.6i electronic multi-point ful injection!

regardless of age which has the most problem with it what it more prone to if u catch my drift.

I prefer the look of the GSI but people say the engines are better in the GTE

Try reading back through some old posts as this question has come up many times before...

Someone asked quite recently in Techical forum which engine was better and got good replies.

Personally I prefer the look of the mk1 so would go for a GTE.
You can pick up a good GTE cheaper than a good GSi too...

they both used the jetronic engine so are both as reliable as each other (the last GSi's used the multijet-same reliability). Also the last of the GSi's have got Cats.

They are both group 11 for the insurance.

multi jet is that a diff name for mulit point injection? I thought some GSI's were single point like early corsas or is that just the 1.4 sri

Fester

none of the GSIs were singlepoint, the 1.4i is single point, the SRI multipoint
