Hello all,

Right its a generally known fact that from 1992 onwards cars legaly have to have cats, but ive just read somewhere that the new law come into effect August 1992.......... so my question is, is it cars from Jan 1992 that need a cat or cars from august 1992??

As said, if its after aug it needs a cat, then after 96 it must have a cat test. as the computer wont carry the test on with out it. (dont know how come peple get around this)

Guessing yours is before aug so you should be ok.

From what i been told people get around it by getting their MOT mates to put another car through the emmisions......
Im hoping it will be because i wanting rid of the CAT!!! lol

Why? Using a high flow sport cat will free the flow up..

No car physically NEEDS a cat in the exhaust, however depending on vehicle age you will have to pass a strict(er) emissions test, which most cars will require a Catalytic Converter for.

My Celica (1995/N) actually passed the emissions last year with a decat lol

A normal CAT costs 60 notes, for a CHEAPY one!

like i said on my project thread no job = no funds = no parts = no work done on nova!

So ill be rid of it & therefore be rid of another restirction!

well the idea is to get as much possibly done BEFORE i get another engine, IF i can find a decent one without too much hastle! I know tuning a 1.2 aint much point as you wont end up with more then 100hp (if that!!) but i need to do something cheap that will get me a bit more poke!!

oooo another green blob..... cootose to whomever give me that :D

As RJ said you dont physically need a cat to pass an MOT as long as the car meets the emmitions regulations my last 1.2spi nova passed a cat test with no cat on.:)
