I have fitted my E16SE, and been running it now for a couple weeks. It goes rather well!

But a few of my mates have commented on just how well it goes. These arent mates with 1.2 Corsas either. Mainly Civic drivers (take from that what you will......:wtf:) Civic Type R's, 400bhp Integra Turbo engined Civic EG, Civic VTi's etc etc.

One of whom has just got a 205 1.9GTi as a runabout, and has had a full rebuild costing 5k back in 2001, with uprated cam and port and polished head. So id assume it was running healthy standard power.

I had a wee play with the 205, and left him sitting at every opportunity. Both from standing starts and rolling starts.

Is this normal, or has my engine been errr 'breathed on'?

You're engine is either quite highly modified, or his his seriously sick! Or perhaps a bit of both.

IIRC the 1900 is 125 bhp std, your's is 100 bhp std. Iknow bhp figures ain't everything but hey, still you get my drift!!

I'd hazard a guess at his being a little sick, because to get a 1600 over 120 bhp takes a bit of work (within reason).

Which year was the 205? It'l be either 120 or 130bhp. I'm sure I've heard the 1.9 gearbox has naff ratios though, not as good as the 1.6 GTi...?

Either way, it should really honk the GSi.

Yeah I've heard there isn't much between a 1.9 gti 205 and a 1600 gti 205 (115 bhp), something about the 1600 being better geared

The 205 is on a G plate.

Hmm im baffled

I also had a mess about with my mate in his 180bhp 1800 VVC MG ZR (exige TB's and Emerald ECU) and he said i was gaining on him alot of the time. He coudlnt shake me...:wtf:

Lol your 1600 must be an injection Group A spec with secret Nitrous Oxide!

I kinda doubt his ZR is running at its best if im being honest.

Whats a standard GSi's quarter mile time?

205 GTi 1.6 has shorter ratios, a mate of mine put a 1.6 box on a 1.9, he said it was insane!! only problem is ya loose all top end!

I used to have a 1.6 gti and my mate had the 1.9 gti, both on a g plate around the same millage and the 1.6 beat the 1.9 all day long. Its all down to the gearbox on the 1.6, tell your mate to put a 1.6 box in his 1.9 and you'll probably find he'll leave you sitting.

Yup, mate of mine had a 1.6 gearbox on an Mi-16'ed 205. He was quicker to [insert fast speed here] but I had better top end (when I had the XE in the saloon that is)

G reg should be 130bhp iirc

I bet the 1.6 box didn't last very long on the Mi-16

Yeah i'm positive the g plate 1.9's are 130bhp

I bought it as a non runner. All i know is its done 72k miles.

I fired a belt and fluids in it, and swapped my inlet, exhaust, starter, alternator and dizzy setup over.

Im starting to think it may have a couple little things done....... Hmmmm

Im just not sure what could have been done.

Obviously cam, but what else? As most other stuff is external work no? High comp pistons? It does idle rough, but i put that down to a leaking inlet gasket.

the 205 1.9 was a rocket ship in std form. and in std form would wee all over a gsi in std form.......

something does not add up, & the taller gearbox is a red herring, the 1.9 is a long stroke lugger & works better with tall gears.

Are you sure its a 1.9??!! lol i had a 1.9 GTi, it was a rocket ship. For a GSi Nova to keep up with one, i'd say its a poorly pug!
