got a little white mk1 hatch a a runabout, thinking of turning it into a van, but wondering how this would affect things come MOT time, ie no seatbelts in the back etc

i think youll have to declare it as a van to the DVLA, they will then send you a new log book out, stating its is a van,

any probs wit the mot, stick it up their noses..

You only need rear seatbelts if there are rear seats:thumb:

LOL Just remove the rear seats and seatbelts and then its fine. Shouldnt have to send it away to the DVLA and i doubt they would care/acualy do anything.

Basic rule of thumb is if its there then they test it, if it works it passes, if it dont then it dont, varies from tester to tester but thats the basic jist of it!

So in which case, no rear seat then no rear seat belts needed!

takes two mins to whip the seats out. no seats!! no need for belts!! as for having van panels instead of windows wil make no difference

I never had rear seats in mine, but I did have a false floor in there and had removed the seat brackets. Did that because on a previous car I just whipped it all out and they failed it, saying I could go around the corner, re-fit them and then the mot would be invalid, as the seats and belts wouldn't have been tested.
