hey up mate, what u want is a decnet head unit for about 200-300, 2 sets of componants, front and back, a 4 channel amp to power them, and then a 15" sub and a daddy mono block amp to power that. all in all if u shop around u should be able to do it in about ?1000
E.g. Set up.
4x Alpine SRP 17cm =?200
Alpine V12 4x50rms =?120
Rockford Fosgate RFP3215 =?180
Box=?40
Directed audio 600d (600rms)=320
Any (decent)sony headunit =250
Total=?1070
first bit ov advise m8........ dont buy sony!!!
just as stifler syas get a good headunit to start with and a good set ov components!! you can run them off any decent headunit for the moment, since you listen to hip hop music you will be better off wi a 12" sub or 2 depending on how loud you want it, then buy a good quailty amp to power the subs, if you have enough money left then you could buy a couple ov 6" mids for rear fill (dont buy 6*9's if u want to put then in the parcel shelf)
that will give you a loud system but will also have a very good sound quality
Ballsy
ps when u buy the stuff, we can advise you how to install it all

i went to halfords the other day sayin can i hav a look at sonys sub so ere this guy goes thinking he is allthat :D and here plays some good s***t out and the sub blows on him now go get some kenwood they are the bomb :lol:
:twisted: nat :twisted:
yea dont buy sony, do one step at a time. Id start with the head unit, if you can afford it get an alpine. Get a head unit, then some nice componment (speaker and seperate tweater) speakers upfront (dont bother with coaxil coz you will want to change them at a later date) then get an amp, Rockford fosgate are considered one of hte best, and dont be fooled by the watt of a amp. look for the RMS watt of an amp and not the maximun power wattage( as its all bollocks). Then buy a sub, something like a JL are good subs, get a decent box as the box is an extremley important part, make sure its to the subs recommended guidelines.
Dont bother with 6x9s as ballsey says if you get a sub, if you must have back speakers get coaxil speakers or midrange and make sure the airspace is not shared with the sub (very hard to do in a small car such as a nova) as the sub will cause the speakers to drastically distroat(spelling?). Dont get a sub without an amp as it just wouldnt work!. Buy back speakers last though as they are by far the least important part of your system.
Dont buy from halfords they are a complete rip off. buy from www.caraudiodirect.com or www.bassjunkies.com some people recommend www.mcs-direct.co.uk but i have never bought from them.
Just price up head units from one of them shops compared to halfords head units and you will see a huge difference.
eg a pioneer 6400 ?169 online, ?300 in halfords!!!

I wish that when i was 16 i had a grand to spend on ICE!
As a basic rule the same as what others have put but i will do a nice simple list starting from the front of the car:
1. Head Unit (most important)
2. Small front speakers for treble (in dash or door cards)
3. Mid range speakers in shelf (maybe stealth self or similar)
4. Sub or subs with a box (in the boot)
5. Nice big amp to power Sub/s (with bandpass filter)
6. Another amp not so big for the other speakers.
Theres your shopping list :wink:

BEFORE you get any ice be sure to get your car properly alarmed & secure.

Security is the first thing you should be thinking about, but even still it won't stop windows being broken and ICE being removed.... :(
So if I were you I'd mark up each and every component with your name, postcode etc... I've recently welded a plate containing that info into my toolbox....
What ever you do get all your ice insured. i'm 18 and when i was 16 i fist got my nova started addin ice to it. the end total was around ?1500. and last weekend i got ?400s worht of it nicked. get an allarm. and dont be stupid like me get insured and get an allarm
i have lost it for good now.
