God I hate myself!

Going on Honeymoon on Monday to Australia for a Month (3 night stop over in Singapore) and thought (as you do) better read up on the nasty creepy crawlies out there "just incase". We're going to Sydney and then up to Noosa - its currently 40`c there at the moment with extreme UV protection warnings!

Now - I HATE SPIDERS but take a look at just a selection of the nasties out there! :o

Red Back Spiders are all over the place :x and as for the funnel web - these things hiss at you :o

Heres an bit for tasters...

DEATH ADDER:This is one of Australia's most highly venomous snakes, yet rarely attains a length of as much as one metre. Although this snake is not agressive, it is likely to hit anything coming within range of where it lies. Although the death rate from it's bite is high, there is a good chance of recovery if there is prompt first aid and subsequent medical attention.

TAIPAN: One of the largest of Australia's venomous snakes, and certainly the most deadly, with a lethal dose estimated to be fifty times that of the Indian cobra. Being a long slender snake it can strike from a considerable distance, and often drives the fanges into several places in rapid succession.

SPIDERS
Only two species of spiders have been positively known to cause death in Australia. One is the Redback spider, which occurs in various places in the world. (USA=Black Widow). The other killer is the Sydney Funnel-web Spider found within a 200 kilometre radius of Sydney. The male funnel-web is known to have caused deaths, with venom six times as powerful at that of the female.

RED-BACK SPIDER This nasty little spider is found in all parts of Australia except in the hottest deserts and on the coldest mountains. The Red-back likes to make it's home in damp, dark places, even under toilet seats

I dont wanna go now. Apparantly when your asleep they crawl over you :o and hide in yer shoes!

lol, i went to australia a few years back, watch out for the spiders, some of them are the size of dinner plates, absolutly huge!

to kill them, you need a spray, its in a huge can, just spray it in their direction and they freeze like a ice cube!

Being a man is easy - being hard and no running away from deadly snakes, spiders, reptiles, and scorpions is another matter all together if you ask me...

Even australian bees and stuff are nastly little things.

My mum used to live in australia when she was little as her dad worked out there and she once got stung on the foot walking down the beach by a bee that was under some sea weed and she nearly ended up losing her foot ... nasty horrible creatures they have out there.

But - all that aside...
I HOPE YOU REALLY ENJOY YOURSELF OUT THERE ADE.

LOL!

Didnt see any spiders although there were a couple of MEGA sized cockroaches.

Went into the Hinterland round Brisbane way to see friends who have a stunning house on a hill - there house regularly gets invaded by the Huntsman spider - this thing is the sized of a dinner plate (average 12" across leg span) - harmless but enough to make you follow trhrough if you see one! They have a habit of falling on people from above! :o :x

The only thing was the missus got nipped a few times by midgies - howevere these are nothing compared to the infamous Scotish Midgie!

its only a matter of evolutionary time before our common house spiders adapt to life over here and get toughened up and cant be squashed by a simple slipper over the head and figure out they could use some more lethal toxins to warn us off a bit. :o
