View Full Version : Do you need to change the master brake cylinder?

Hi all, im going to fit astra gte 16v discs and calipers to my nova 1.4 sr, i have been told that i will need to upgrade the master brake cylinder? is this true or will the standard item be ok? help please, regards rob

no need. just bleed the brakes with an easibleed (£15-19 from halfords/screwfix/motorfactors), jobs a goodun.

Make sure you put the new calipers on the right way up.
Bleed nipple at top. If you could easily put the 22mm GTE 16v MC on a Nova it would immensely. Sadly you can't.

tbh - you wouldnt notice much difference with the astra M/C with those size brakes... If you were to use 288's etc then you may do.

Yes, they never bleed with the nipples pointing down as all the air is at the top of the cylinder.....
