Types of Nova's????????

This might sound a daft question but ive just been wondering how many models of the nova there is :?: All i can think of is GSi / GTE / 1.3SR / 1.4SR / 1.4SRi / Flair / Merit / SXi / Spin / Luxe. thats all i can think of but im sure there is more, any1 no wot else there is just its bugin me now i need 2 no lol

Do you know why it was called Nova in england and corsa on the continent? well it was because Nova in Spanish means No-go wich aint a very clever name for a car so opel called theres the Corsa.

Quite good that they renamed it to the corsa in the UK when they fetched it out as the Corsa as we know it over here coz it just wouldnt be right ot call it a Nova mk3 even though thats what it was.

was about the same time as the european bollax so we had to take the euro name rather than them have the "Nova".

A bit like Jif now being called Cif.

ive got a mk2 nova snap, quite rare im told (396 made) came with full GSi bodykit and wheels (was a 1.2i now dropped in a 1.6i GSi) :-)

It is probably something stupid like vauxhall allowed some to be registered early on the GSi and some late on the GTE.

i have a "antibes" ....its a secial edition i spoze? lol, its got red iterior...great! and some extra dials, i quite like that...its a 1.2 and its got a 5 speed gear box, is that normal?

My mk1 1.2 Merit only had 4 speed box, but i have seen some with 5 so dunno.

I quite like the Antibes, the interior is quite nice, on a red car :D

Spoken to my uncle at Vauxhall and two issues.

Vauxhall/Opel never endoresed any 16v novas. None to Vauxhall Knowledge.

Also Vauxhall did make a limited edition run of 1.8 8v nova's only 24 made

According to my source, Vauxhall had not expected the Nova to take off as well and as quick as it did.

They produced the first "sports" model the 1.3sr, but the public wanted more, so they in 1987 produced the GTE, Vauxhall were unsure how enthusiasts were going to react to the GTE at the time so a stengthed shell was made, and a 1.8 8v was placed in these shells and where sent for secret testing, 24 were made in total and Vauxhall have 3 of them in storage, the others were sent to dealers not for resale to see how it faired.

The GTE proved its worth, the public loved it and the production cost of the shells and the engines conveniced Vauxhall not to produce any more.

Unfortinatly this is all the infomation i have.
