Hi Guys
hoping all you clever people out there will be able to help me, I've looked in the search box to see if i could find an answer first as i'm sure this has been asked a hundred times but couldn't find anything, so here goes,
Is a 1.4 16V block and crank the same as an 8v ? basically a mate has blown the bottom end on his 16v and is desperate to do a rally next weekend and as his head is ok and we have found an 8v could we just put decent rods and pistons that he has for a 16v in the 8v block and crank then use his head ?
any help would be fantastic

make sure you check the crankshaft pulley teeth to see if there round or sqaure to go with your 16 valve cam pulleys.
