View Full Version : WTF is the thermostat ?!?!?

right my temp gauge wont pick off bottom, however when i go along in a biult up area i.e not getting much air on the engine it comes up a bit?? anyone know why this is, im guessing its the thermostat but i cant find it lol im clearly a noob at novas?

Do your heaters work? Do you have water in the header bottle? It could be your system needs flushing.

Your have to remove the cambelt cover, and then problery the cambelt, and then rear plate to get to it.

Guessing you do mean where, Remove the cam belt covers and belt, its hidden away behind it.

Square-top belt cover, so cambelt will have to come off to get the rear cover off. As said above by the general tbh.

yeh its where lol, duno i have heating, but i think the only thing could be the thermostat, is it a big job taking this stuff off?

So your heaters work? Where does the gauge get too? Out of the blue?
The fan will normal come on at half way. Yes for someone that doesnt know its a big ish job.

oh rite, yeh the heaters work, gauge gets up to halfway, then goes down when im driving around

Well it sounds normal to me. If it's not overheating and the heaters works also the temp goes back down then it should be fine. When was the water last changed?

Sounds like the rad/fan is just working better than normal.

Leave it alone.

or the stat is stuck open, not a problem wise to leave it alone! not doing any damage!

its probs the sender, they always bugger up! well have for me ive been through 4, stupid i know, but there about 5 quid so go for that, but the thermostat houseing is to card to get to on them! just behind the cambelt cover, real easy, dont forget to get some gasket paper or paste otherwise it wil leak like a siv!

Wont be stuck open if it gets up to temp.
