I had my first race at brands hatch last sunday in the dunlop motorsport news championship ,didnt quite go aswell as i had hoped racing is very different to trackdays i am in class e which is upto 16oo 8v against some very rapid minis qualifying went ok managed to keep out of the way of the escort cosworths and skylines and qualified with a time of 57.7 about 1.8 slower than the minis in my class but only 0.3 behind a 1600 16v nova so not too bad but my clutch started to slip towards the end of qualifying we couldnt see anything obvious so lined up for the race 3rd from lastlol the race was uneventfull managed to pass a mk1 escort going into the hairpin but he went straight back past down the straight:( was trying to keep in touch with the other nova but the escort spun in front of me coming onto the pit straight i backed off too much under the yellow flags and didnt see the other nova again clutch started to slip again in the last few laps but i managed to finish and didnt come last:thumb:
decided the clutch had taken enough so didnt come out for the 2nd race, the gearing is a little out i was hitting the rev limiter in 5th 2/3rds of the way down the straight so i am going to miss the next round at the end of the month but do the round after that at lydden
DhDev oli has found some pics so if he is about he might be kind enough to post them:thumb:

Well done matey! Sounds like you had a great day!

What FD are you running? Sounds like you could do with a higher ratio.

Unfortunately the pics i've found are by professional togs, with fancy websites, so I'm unsure how to show the pics. There are loads in this link though, definately worth a look as the car looks fantastic :thumb:

thanks for the replys:thumb: i am currently running with a 4.1 cwp with the rev limiter set at 7800,this works well at lydden but is a bit short for brands so we are going to have to get a 3.9 there is so much more left in the car as it stands i think with someone more experienced behind the wheel 55,s would not be out of the question but is difficult to gauge quite how hard you can push with slicks i never once had the car out of shape or on the limit so there are definatly better lap times to come;)

Hi Hybrid i am afraid the escort has taken a back seat but it will most definatley get finished ,but the nova has taken all of the funds for the escort and i am still waiting for ht to finish my engine so i have got a lack of motivation for it at the moment:confused:

I have seen those pics they are really good ,still not sure if in the first pic the rear wheel is off the ground that is braking for the hairpin at the top of the hill ,if it is it goes to show my compbrake calipers are working oklol
