because i dont want the nova for daily use, i picked up an astra MK1 today.
payed a few hundred for it:D
she looks sh!te as the previous owner rollerd it satin black.. in about 3 minutes.
its a 1.2 with 4speed gearbox. already had it up the lift, she is fukcing solid:eek: no rusty arches, sills, underneath the carpets etc.

previous owner already placed a gte dash, 40-40 drop,a very loud sebring exhaust and the brocks.
my plans: normal exhaust, sell the wheels and get some Ronal Turbo's, an 100-80 drop, and respray it in a uber 80's colour:)
and a 5 speed gearbox, this really sucks lol

Love these cars. Good find :) if your doing it in a original colour the main ones on the standard mk1 astras were a orange or brown. Either colour would look pretty cool if your doing it in a similar style to your nova. :D

What engine are you going to put in it? V6 would be pretty cool ;)

i have a spare 20XE laying around ... but i think it will stay a 1200. just swap it for a 5 speed gearbox, she's revving like hell at 70 mp/h.
Oh my god that is sweet, i would love to own a MK1 Astra at some point!

mk1 looks good, a few 'euro' touches like your nova and you'll have a winner:thumb:
Opel ascona B from my mate. and that small piece of cluster and the little grey you see inside is a kadett C coupe.

the nova is 'done' so lets build this to something nice.
@ben: originaly it was green, big chance it will be beige some day.

the kadett is a big restauration project, swapped to 20seh and she's now almost ready for paint. the thing was absolutely rotten as hell

yup, for the dett. its a off the shelf colour, but i like it lol
it wont be a big project like the nova, i just want to build a retro kadett without spending to much money on it. most likely the 1.2 ohv engine stays, i just want a 5 speed gearbox... thats a challenge, a ohc gearbox doesnt fit on a ohv enige, and as a 5 speed was optional, and somewhere in the 80's the changed everything to ohc engines. need to find a e12gv nova with a 5 speed...
plans are simple... beige, remove the tinted windows and lower it more. i'm ordering an 80-80 drop in the next few weeks.
only thing i'm unsure about is wheels... at first i wanted ronal turbo's, but this last week i'm looking into a set of zenders (the one's that REXY had on his blue euro nova) or a set of porsche c2 (dc90??).

Lookin' lush mayhem. As said, ditchthe exhaust, but deffo go for the zenders. They looked the nuts on rexys, would suit that 'dett to a T :thumb:

the exhaust is soo wrong, it was there when i bought it. will be an old school group A look. like the mk1 golfs have.
wheels is still an issue.. i'm tes fitting ronal turbo's when she's lowerd.. i have adapters 4*100/5*130 for fitting porsche wheels too..
loving the colour dude but not the idea of ronal turbo's iam affraid, D90's however :)

The new colour spoils it for me if I'm honest, It suited black better, But still such a stunning car.
the black was ok, but that was rollerd very poorly by the previous owner.
and if youre painting it.. why not do something different. all cars are black, silver, red or blue.
about the gearbox.. the 1.2ohv has a low ratio diff in it, like 4.5:1 or something crazy.... the rally boys, and grass track racers go mad for them in the UK. but the gear box you have is a basic f10 just like a nova 1.0. if you keep the main casing, you can swap all the bits from a f10 5 speed into it. you must also find a 5 speed gearshifter though.
its a f10, just the bellhousing is different from a ohc engine.
isnt that going to be a horrible job to do? or is it just a cassette (??) with all the gears in it i need to swap?

fronts are fitted with 175-50-15 and the rears are 195-45-15.
and now my 80-80 drop isnt low enough for my likings lol

yes, if you keep your original diff, then the end gear needs swapping, but your diff really needs swapping to a higher geared one.

no, there original astra mk1, the mounting is a little different, and there not adjustable from the inside. most guys place corsa A mirrors though.
i've bought a set of the early mirrors, those are also on the very early nova's (like lynz has)

uk astra mk1's never had those mirrors.
I did once fit some cavalier mk2 (1986 ascona) mirrors onto a 84 beige nova, they fitted well

so still a bargin, considering its an oldtimer.. no tax and 9 euro insurence a month.
mint D kadett's are listed for 2000-2500 euro.. this one just needed paint, she was almost rustfree.

she's changed a little since the last pics..
-early type nova mirrors
-new exhaust system (standard exhaust FTW)
and at the moment it's on 13 inch steelies (for the winter months) and
she's completely stripped inside to remove a few small rust patches. i'm hoping to put it together today :)

she needed a new rear spring holder thing, so got her up the lift and checked her completely..

as the passenger side carpet was getting wet all the time i got a bit scared, so decided to strip the inside and remove all sound deading..

the worst place there is... luckely after grinding i found that only the floorpan was rusty, the chassisleg and lower floorpan under it wasn't affected yet. you can see the stupid design, who decided to put a floorpan, a chassis leg and a lower floorpan there?! and as it's under an angle, water get in there, and stayes there.
so if anyone wants a mk1, this is the place to look.. new panels arent available, and if it's too rotten, you have days of welding ahead of you to get it sorted.
