Unless you convert it to MPI not much, 1.6 has round ports, but the cam would be a great inprovment even with standard everything else.

yeah i did the 1.6 cam mod with my 1.2, made a good difference! and AW06 is right, the ports are a different shape, if you DO want to head down the MPI route your best bet is an SRi head, 1.6 cam, and all the other engine bits from the SRi.
me thinks C14Se engine would be the best bet and get yourself a 1.6 cam in that!

tbh i really cant think about engine swaps at the mo, but staying on the spi route,

what kind of gains would i get, noise? boost? etc etc

Boost! It's not knight rider lol

Your best of just doing the full engine transplant and save yourself a lot of hassle imo

boost??????
You will get a few horsepower out of it, still though, a few horses is a few horses!
There is a way to change the cam without removing the head bolts btw, head to ya nearest tool shop and see if they have a vaux 8v valve compressor, you can compress the valves down & mo ve the tappets outa the way

1 thing it doesnt mention you need to have a magnet rod handy as the gommets that sit on the top of the valve springs are an **** if they decide to run off!!
