grinder as this wont distort the metal as much. take the bonnet off and lay it away from your car as the flying bits of metal will stick to the windcreen etc.

best look is to grind the ventholes out of an astra bonnet and weld that in the nova bonnet.

ive been wondering this,

im thinking of getting some primer, and moulding my gte teardrops into a spare bonnet... might be worth getting another set of vents and doing a trial n error..

i seen the vents on alot of nova an there not flush, so i thought people just stuck them on just to look the part, but i'd rather have them flush with the bonnet

I used to mount them in a piece of card first if I didn't have the astra bonnet to copy off and then transfer the shape to the Nova bonnet and then cut it out with a nibbler, which you can get from HSS hire shops for about a tenner as long as its took back the same day, they are a lot neater and less brutal than a grinder

i'll check that out tomorrow graeme,
so mark it out with card first, then mark it out on the bonnet an cut round that?

As said for a pukka job your best off having a complete bonnet of which the vents have come from and cutting out the whole section around the vent. This can then be welded into your nova bonnet giving you function and form in the best way possible.

the gte bonnet is recessed so the vents sit flush but you might to be able to mount them to the under side to get the recessed look.

i was thinking of other vents try a breakers for a front ended astra gte and chop the vent mounts out the bonnet and weld into yous as nick said.

cud try this way pal, i used a mk3 cav front scuttle panel vent chopped it in half, weldid into either side of my bonnet and smoothed it in with filler.

that looks alright but i want it to sit up a little out of the bonnet

that easy as said already just draw a cardboard cut out of the inside of your astra vent and take a grinder to the bonnet with thin cutting disc and then bond your vents over the newly cut hole, half hour job max.

just bond them on with tigerseal or sikoflex then mate then smooth in with filler if its only for looks, just make sure there aint any gaps beetween the vents and the bonnet when filling them otherwise itll crack
