I went to see a Nova LET a couple of days ago, and there were 2 things wrong, wanted to post on here to see if they will be an easy fix, the engine was out of a Calibra turbo, the sump gasket is leaking, it looks like the sump gasket to me, its round that area, and when it started up it sounded sweet as a nut, the temp gauge flew up, was'nt hot, then took it out, when I brought it back I waited for the fan to kick in, which it did, left it for another couple of minutes then it kicked in again then left it again then it kicked in for the third time, I felt the rad hoses and they were hot but not boiling hot, it was'nt leaking water or boiling from the header tank, the owner said it was the clocks that were nackered, any ideas:thumb: .

Is the sump an easy fix?
sumps ok. make sure you use the 2ltr 8v rubber sump gasket with the baffle plate.
and make sure all surfaces are spotless with no grease or anything on it.
Just tell him to fix the sump. Or get a hundred or two knocked off. Its what a garage would charge.
Its not hard, but you will need a ramp ideally as you will need to remove the downpipe, which on a Nova can be a bit tasty!

as will said tell him fix sump dont buy other peoples problems cos they too lazy to fix them as can be tasty indeed just changed sump on my nova v6 and all i had was axle stands and a grinder as i had to chop my downpipe off with being v6,and then re weld it back up, not the case on let but downpipe needs removing to allow you to drop sump. temp sensor or temp sender cud be at fault but again tell seller to fix it cos last thing you want is buy a let nova and head gasket go pop!
