View Full Version : anyone make their own strut brace?

getting fed up of trying to find a decent strut brace, and when i do no1 will post me the ****in thing!lol so im going to make my own i can weld pretty good so im just wondering where would i get bases from? be a pain to cut them from a sheet of steel! also anyone got pics of theres? cheers!:thumb:

you could draw them on CAD and take them to a laser cutting place, like i did with my chassis strengthening kit

Be way to thin surely. You want something thick. Getting the tubing bent will be more fun.

I would have thought the strut top plates wouldn't be strong enough.

Could you not at streching platyes to the turrets and then weld on eyelets all most then fix the bar to that. Like James has done to his cage mounting points? (Countbrown alot)

could you not just get an akro bar or old steel scaffold pole and well it in. woould work in bbot im sure. just a suggestion as recently seen a car with akro's as rear suspension lol

I dunno, this is how i did it before an had no problems at all, OMP braces only use 3mm thick plates anyway, same as the strut top plates.

An OMP strut brace fit's on a LET Nova, you can get them for around £50

My sparco one on my saloon was around £30 but i will be making my own for the track car - its not that difficult if you take your time your nearly there with your ideas, i would personally start by using plate for the strut tops if you want a brace that goes from top to top.
