im putting disk back breaks from a gsi astra on my nova, should i use the astra stub (which is not round) and drill holes in the axel to line up or should i use the nova stub (which is round) and cut the backing plate of the astra calipers?

nope niether- go shopping on the net and find yourself a conversion kit, i think lmf stock it
once you got the kit set about fitting that, then your rear disc hubs & discs etc. then go and find some compensator valves to reduce the pressures to the rears. they gotta be the right ones to match (3/32 iirc)
check out hendrixs thread about the handbrake cable set up
