its the torque that ya need mate, any ideas on the figure, i did hear 340 ft lb....

astraluke

as far as i understand they are not that powerfull (before you critise (sp) please bear in mind i have 6 (yes, really) v6 engines here.

The b308i is effectively the same engine as x30xe (omega varient). the b258i is the same as c/x25xe.

The turbo on these is non upgradable and DOES NOT OFFER ANYMORE HORSEPOWER, it does feature around 30 ib/ft of torque however.

x30xe 200bhp and 200 ibs/ft (Rough figures)
B308i 200bhp and 230ibs/ft (Rough figures)

If you want one of these buy a complete car, they're available for as little as £450 on occasion, and you can break and get your money back.

Sorry to rant, but 300bhp on a v6 is laughable. It cost Frank Denker (sp) 40 odd grand to get his calibra to 400bhp, but he did eventually reach his goal of 200mph.

gaznovalet
13-05-09, 09:08 PM
the b308i is asymetrical turbo so 1 turbo feeds all 6 banks and as stated not a great power gain by being low blow.
the 2.3l full pressure turbod saab lumps have same 225 bhp with 323 nm torque. have heard the b308i goes through a few belts aswell.

Sloth
13-05-09, 09:10 PM
i thought the b308 had the tubby on just the front bank, ie 3 cyls? id love to see one of the calibra c25let's.....

according to the parkers guide the b308i turbo has 310 nm torque sloth mate

too rite mate, id guess my nova to have around 180bhp c25xe with 3.8bar fpr and direct cold air feed and it goes nicely, my old nova with x30xe and nitrous realy went well but the v6 turbo wud be nice in there.:D

And now for some comments from someone who actually HAS experience of a Saab engine in a Nova.

isnt the turbo at the front. gaz i would love it in a corsa c mate....
If it is, it'll never fit in a Nova unfortunately. I can tell you now for a fact that you'll need to sit the radiator about 8" clear of the front bumper if the front manifold has a turbo mounted on it! :( Not sure about a C, but a Nova - no chance. Humph.

225 bhp standard with low blow turbo at 0.4 psi. and the v6 growl dumping off, if i was working id of been tempted at it, plety welding and wiring and hey presto!
225bhp? That sucks, the B308i is 210.

The b308i is effectively the same engine as x30xe (omega varient)
It IS the same. Both are 210bhp, 199ftlbs.

i said 340, so i was close. thats plenty poke in a nova.... still no b234r tho....
No, you said 340ftlbs, whcih = 460Nm. 310Nm = 228ftlbs, which again is only about 29ftlbs up on the non-turbo.

oh well. im sorry if i'm doing things. my bad.
You're not though? I wanted a V6 nova for ages, but I didn't whack on about how I was going to build one. I just waited for one to come up, bought it, and got it built.

Yeeaas, it was fitted and running, and we took it out and fitted it to mine. So absolutely no difference to fitting it afresh, the only advantage was we were able to see roughly how it fitted beforehand and Lee could tweak the loom before doing it in mine - tbh neither of which were really dependent on it being in a nova to begin with as we'd have figured both those out as we did the work.

We had a whole host of problems along the way, which we cured. If we had done a straight remove & refit job without doing it properly, it wouldn't have worked.

I want a V6 Tubby Cav. Just a pity I dont have a Cav to fit the lot to.....

Lee
16-05-09, 08:23 PM
Using a nova as a doner was my decision as..

1. I haven't done a V6 before, so experimenting on Jacks car, although he was willing, wasnt an option for me as I dont experiment on other peoples cars, plus he had a limited budget so having everything we needed helped a huge amount, and..

2. I dont pretend for a second to be any good at welding (despite slowly improving with some practice) so having the manifolds, inlet and mount already made was preferable to farming out the jobs or me having a crack and watching the engine fall out lol

I wasn't out to impress anyone, I went the cheap quick route to a decent V6 Nova. Sorry if that offends anyone

Should have done less farking about building it and just ranted on forums about how great the non existant combo was imo, changed your mind on what car/engine you're using about every 5 days and "PM'd" people at random so as not to reveal that you have like, at least 6 non existant combos already running and on the road!

Quite frankly, yes I am offended you chose to do such a thing as keep quiet until the thing was actually built or you were asked your opinion on it. lol

So how many thousands of torque does the new V6 have when you convert it between Nm and LbFt a couple times without changing the numbers? :D
