Been offered a M45 supercharger off a mini as hes upgrading and ive also been offered a 1.6 8v that im going to buy no matter what...

Now is it a totally stupid idea to try and combine the two? :)

What problems can you experienced guys see?

Im thinking 2 HG's and a spacer to lower compression? or would new pistons be better? (bearing in mind i would like to keep it fairly cheap) and a custom pully off the crank? Ill fab up an inlet no problems.

Now its just an idea and i would like some constructive ideas so keep the bullshnit to a minimum please :thumb:

use 1.6 spi pistons, as there dished, fit a spacer and two gaskets and youll see a nice 8.5 to 1 c/r. fit a boost sensing fpr and some c20ne injectors and its all good. btw thats for a c16se post 1993.

Whats the difference with the post 93 engine to say a gsi engine (92)

the management system. pre 1993 its on a dizzy post its coilpack. i personally prefer the post 93 setup due to the sensor setup being better and the fact that there is more post 93 engines about. but the earlyier dizzy ones are more adjustable to boost. swings and roundabouts mate. if you find a pas equipped c16se just put the charger where the pas pump goes.

Nice!! I wont worry about the gsi engine then.

Theres nothing else that would need upgrading?

hmm, not really, just keep to a lowish boost pressure. plus you can run a b.o.v aswell!

Would you recommend putting the throttle bodie before or after the charger and ic?

Also would a 2.0 8v throttle be beneficial?

Right ive sourced most of the parts now.

Is this correct?

Air filter > Throttle bodie (2.0 8v item?) > FMIC > Charger > Custom inlet with injectors taped in? > Head........

Rough design for inlet....

With the 2.0 injectors tapped into the manifold?

No.

Air Filter (air in) > Charger (compress air) > FMIC (cool the charge) > TB (mix with fuel) > Inlet (to put into engine)

Charger comes before the fuel/air mix - it gets very hot so the last thing you want is petrol in it, unless you're doing anti lag, but thats a different kettle of fish. Hence why the FMIC is between the charger and the TB, as it cools the charge before going in the engine.

Right this is were there could be a problem then....

do it lad! dont even bother dropping the cr! just retard the timing slightly, itl go like fook!

do a 16v as the inlet manifold splits anyway lol

/\ dont be gay.
i said drop the cr as a safety measure. last thing ya need is an engine spitting its tits out 20 miles after a conversion, trust me its crap...

Why?

Not to worry its all sorted :thumb:

Im watching some items on ebay so hopefully i will be able to start this soon.

Anyone know were i can get a reversed inlet manifold? Ive seen them used in mini conversions and it would make routing the pipes easier for me.

simple yet spot on :)

This will be nice if you build it, shame the Eaton isnt ideal but a Rotrex on a 16XE or 18XE would be awesome.

Heatons are uber lossy, but "cheap"

as a ball park, to get a 100bhp (at the fly) gain, it takes 30bhp to spin up the Eaton on the US/UK 2.2 S/C conversions. A Rotrex uses something like half that :D
