Send an email and ask them exactly what is included as although the very lengthy item description is very informative it does not actually tell you what it is that you are bidding on.

Also, a point i just thought of, all the people who have said they bought one could just be friends of the seller... :D

burgessovsalford

It is probably a note telling you to pump up the tyres really hard, disconnect the alternator and rev the taters off it in 1st gear on a rolling road with the air filter removed.

I am an old sceptic, but if 15bhp was this easy, GM would have done it at the factory.

I'd love to know what this is.

By the way, I've got some secondhand grinder sparks for sale, Anyone interested??????

29-01-03, 07:16 PM
it says in the advert that its a chip for the ecu, and that it adds up to 20bhp, which is bullsh?t, no chip can add make 20 bhp with no other mods, unless its a turbo and its had the boost upped

Anton
29-01-03, 07:28 PM
sounds like a con to me..

mowgli
29-01-03, 07:34 PM
I was always led to believe that the gte ecu is analogue, and the most gains were made by fiddling 'resistance readings' to con the injector driver circuit.

Mind you, it apparently fits all novas, so my 1.0 ohv will whip some cars at the lights.

Sounds like bull-s**t to me.

Why does it not say for ECU cars only?

Ur probably meant to sellotape it into the fuse box.

My mate bought a 'power ball' once at a motor show. Like an HT lead but had a big ball in the middle of it.
More bhp, better mpg. All that crap.

It was meant to replace the lead from the coil. His car didnt have that lead. When he rang the number on the back of the box. It didnt even attempt to ring.

I wouldnt bother.

burgessovsalford
30-01-03, 11:37 AM

mowgli
30-01-03, 09:58 PM
he'll probably send you back a letter saying:- Sorry, the product is faulty, accompanied by a refund cheque from 'Bob's Gay Porn & Dildo Co.'
Dare you to take that to the bank.............

Please let us know soon or my jokes get worse, honestly they do!!!

burgessovsalford
31-01-03, 09:11 AM
Not got it yet, prob b next week but appartently in his words its a.......

"small resistor that fits into your air intake temperature sensor"

Anyone any ideas to wot it is??

wisewood
31-01-03, 09:31 AM
Sounds likea right load of rubbish to me mate... but we will see i guess.

As for the thing with the cheque coming back with a dodgy company name on it you just pay it in through a cash machine instead... nobody sees your face associated with it that way. No embarassment that way.

burgessovsalford
31-01-03, 10:50 AM
prob will be for ?4.99... Like they say 'you always get wot u pay for'

nutsaboutnovas
03-02-03, 07:21 PM
has it come yet?? whats the situation??

Aragorn
03-02-03, 07:54 PM
heh sounds like it fools the ECU into thinking the engine is cold

it fires up cold start mode and pumps in more fuel

so all it will do is overfuel, soot up the plugs and generally make the car run like shite

mowgli
03-02-03, 11:15 PM
WOW The old fiddling of the temp sensor to overfuel it trick, I saw CCC mag do something with a Manta in about 1986 that did that. Didn't do much to the overall power figures if my memory is still working.

P.S. Wisewood, you seem to know a lot about passing dodgy cheques.....

burgessovsalford
04-02-03, 09:29 AM
STILL NOT GOT IT, AS HE ONLY RECEIVED THE CHEQUE TODAY! :?

APARENTLY IS DOES'NT AFFECT THE FUEL OUT GOING IF U READ THE ADVERT?

mikesri
04-02-03, 05:31 PM
I've sent a cheque for one of these 2!! I sent the cheque off last week, and am starting to get that kippered feeling!! I'll give it till the end of the week! Sounds a bit like bullshit ot me but its only a fiver!

Finally got it today...

Think it does trick the air temperature sensor. You gotta connect it that anyway.

Does anyone think this fcuk my car up? Also where is the IAT sensor(Intake Air Temperature)?

mikesri
06-02-03, 02:04 PM
Yeah i got mine 2!! Like you said it sounds like it tricks the ecu into thinkin that its cold! Its called a IAT Timing tricker and it goes across sum terminals in the IAT sensor!!??????????????

MMMM i'm not to sure about this!!!

Aragorn
06-02-03, 02:43 PM
dont bother guys

all it will do is knock the ECU into cold start mode

cold start deliuberately overfuels to make sure the car will run happily in cold weather

running permenantly in this mode is NOT good for the engine - all u'll do is coke up the internals and u will prolly lose power due to the fact its overfuelling

mikesri
06-02-03, 02:46 PM
I've just been talkin to my uncle who said exactly the same thing! He said you probably wouldn't even notice the difference! Well it was only a fiver the robbing bastard!

Anton
06-02-03, 02:47 PM
just leave him some shite feedback and warn others not to do the same thing

mikesri
06-02-03, 02:48 PM

I think thats what is used to chip other cars. It fuels the fueling system to pump more fuel into the injectors. Just made my mates 106 stink of feul and blow smoke!!
