I really like flushed tailgates and was going to get mine done too, when it goes in the bodyshop for painting.

BUT i've got a twin 5 inch center exit exhaust coming through the rear bumper (well, obviously not throught the front bumper eh!? ) and a Kingdom Developments rear spoiler (yes, that huuuge fucker that makes my car look like a shopping trolley!).

So i can't decide whether to flush the tailgate or not. I know that it looks good, but i'm not sure if the rear will look 'out of balance' if i do it with the mods i have?

I mean it'll have too much on the top and bottom of the car, and 'something lacking' in the middle. Plus there's nowhere decent to put the rear numberplate, as it'll just make the bumper look too cluttered, and i don't like having it on the side of the bumper.

I've had the wiper removed and etc, so i'd just leave the numberplate recess and the lock surround? It'd make it easier to open tailgate too, as the spoiler is really heavy so a solenoid might struggle?

Or WOUL it look better having a square numberplate on the side of the bumper? Though it might look un-balanced with the tailgate having nothing on it, and a huge rear spoiler and low rear bumper. With numberplate and exhaust 'all over' it.

HELP ME DECIDE! PLEASE!?

do something like ian did with a tiny recess for a bike plate in the centre of the tailgate?

even better, i would put the recess on a flushed tailgate somwhere - slightly to a side i think, would look well nice, very difrent, put the light IN the tailgate as well in the recess and remove all lights

very smooth

perhaps put it in right hand third of tailgate if u c wot i mean?

as for solenoid, my boot dosent lift of the catch enough - i fitted a spring to the rubber bump stop just and it works a treat :D

Smooth it.

I had a pic of the pinky nova, from the back.

I smoothed the boot on that and it looked a lot better.

Get a square motor bike number plate. lettering is slightly smaller, but not recognisable.

as long as the solenoid can still pop the release catch it shoudl still latch open, it shouldnt take any extra effort from the solenoids view

use a push button as opposed to a rocker switch, a push button its push -on-immediately off. Use a rocker switch, put it on then flick it back after 0.5 or 1 second and it will shorten the solenoids life :)

F U C K IT!

You know what i'm going to do?

You know the Kenwood 'mask' headunits, with the pivoting front?

Yeah!? I'm going to mount the numberplate on a similar setup UNDER the bumper, with motors which can slide it out and pivot it up so it's seen. And then back again. For cruises and shows, of course!

Gatsos. Ahem.

I like the idea of f8cking with gatsos.

Considered putting it on the parcel shelf?
Having a paint on job so technically it's still flushed?
