hi i have 2 grilles one is red other is white i want the white one but the slats are broke so i want to take the slats from the red one but what is the best way of removing them without breaking it and how do you re secure it or would it just be easier to re paint the red one.

Look on the back of the grille and you will see the black part (the bit with the slats) is a seperate piece and it clips in and then the bits that meet/clip together are melted to hold it.

Blow torch or oxy/accetalene welder is needed to heat a screwdriver up then just use the screwdriver to melt the plastic and prise the two parts apart, to refit them you can simply push them together and do the same to melt them again or just glue it or ive seen people drill small holes and use little screws to refit.

It sounds more complicated than it is and trust me its not and will only take a few minutes to do!

Iirc mk1 grilles are assembled in the same way so it should be relevant for either:thumb:

Soildering iron, push it in to the middle of the cross thats been melted and then gently pull, itwill pop apart, start on a corner.

ahem....styling?

dont think a grill has bearings on either side and a turbo slapped on the front. thur being irrelevant in the mechanical section.
