I got my 1983 nova in 2006 and from day one i fell in love with it.
its my second nova and about 12th vauxhall.
When i got it it was a 1.2 with 24,000 miles on the clock.

first i took my suspension off my corsa v6 and put it on the nova and dropped it on its 13" steels will factory fitted p600 tyres was fun in the wet

after long a got offered a set of clio turbins cheap so snaped them up and the looked sweet.

after long the car got pinched by some little rat a day after i traveled 400miles to pick up a fit 1.6 8v gsi engine and all the bits i needed to fit it.

luckly i managed to get it back with only a few small bits of damage

the 8v went in with a few trick bits. cam 4 branck and some shiney bits

in 2008 the body started to look a bit shabbie so it went in the body shop for a full work over. bonnet 2 wings 2 rear arch repairs and a fresh coat of ford diamond white.

i decided to go all euro with the Rh classics but after long sold them and now run revolution RFXs

the engine has just went back in and is up and running just need MOT and tax

it was registered in feb 1983 which was the first month the saloon was ever made in the first year they where ever made. so you could say that

yeah there was a tread on retro rides.

i need to add more picturs as i have rebuilt the engine and got new wheels on in and hopefully will be running air ride soon

About a year ago i got a engine off a friend who use to rally nova sports, he told me it was a GTE with only 30,000 miles on it and it had sat in his damp basement for about 20 years, if was for free so i couldnt say no after i wasnt happy with my last engines performance.

so i started using bits out of both of the engines, i used the GTE bottom end as there was no play on the pistons and when i took the water pump out the water vains seemed very clean.
i decided to use the head off a old Gsi engine i keep spare as it was sound and didnt blow the head gasket on that engine. i used the cam out of my last GSI engine as it is a piper fast road.
after buying all my gaskets and service parts i decided to build it thinking it would take about 2 hours but no.....

first problem was i forgot that the early GTE engines didnt have a tensioner so spent about 1 hour looking where the tensioner would go. after 2 cans of dirty rider and a game of that ya old angry machanics sport (spanner tossing) i had a brain fart and remembered it tensioned off the water pump.
problem solved..............................nooooooooo
the engine was turning mint by hand until we torqued down the head bolts and then it was jamming on TDC, so strip the engine down again and check to see if any of the rockers had fell off, then rebuild it back up.

same problem.

gear bock off, and still not turning so stripped engine again. couldnt find the problem again. throw that spanner.
decided to change the head gaset after it had been compressed twice and guess what i had two head gaskets with egged rings and were fouling the piston and jamming the engine

problem solved

so the engine when it with no real problem apart from a crushed heater matrix pipe and crushed finger

the new wheels went on a treat and i think suit the car to a tea.

i got those turbines off this car lol, put them on my r5 turbo and swapped the r5 for my nova saloon, wish i kept the wheels now tho for the nova lollol lol :p :p

Just been getting another F13 box and have started cleaning it ready for paint this weekend
also managed to get a almost new fuel tank, pump and reg with mounting bracket for 25 queens heads.
not bad in my eyes.
will get the pictures up this weekend when i start painting
